How do you use the free 7 day ticket?

I received, along with my welcome guide and potassium iodide tablets , a Schnuppper-Abo card that allows me to travel free on buses in the zones 100-101 around Bern. However I can't figure out how to use it or rather, how to start using it. I understand that it somehow needs to be used first to activate the 7 day limit and I was wondering how do you do that?
Is that what those little orange boxes are for?

Yes the little orange boxes, or the slot (Lower left side of the ticket machines). You push the ticket in and machine stamps the ticket with time date and place, then ticket is immediately active.

You can get a demonstration at Bermobil ticket shop, Bubenbergplatz 17, 3011 Bern (Next to BEKB bank) http://map.search.ch/bern/bubenbergplatz-17

Re: How do you use the free 7 day ticket?

Thanks!
That's what I thought but with the luck I've been having here I was afraid of putting the ticket through the machine and breaking the bus or something! I've seen people using them but I thought they were only for people using some ticket that can only be used a certain number of times.
