Yep, it's been there about a week now. It seems to be jumping back and forth from one side of the tunnel to the other -- it was on the other side just before the French border for about three weeks, now it's back on the other side just after the river crossing.

I was joking to my wife that the Basel border is becoming something of a revenue generator. The French police often install a speed trap just before the border (in the new 70km/h zone), then you've got the temporary speed camera in Horburg tunnel, then you have the permanent speed camera just after the Horburg tunnel exit.

And then, just for good measure, they'll stop you as you get off at the Badischer Bahnhof exit to make sure you've got your new vignette.

That said, some dickhead went past me in that tunnel a couple of weeks ago doing well over a ton, and it's a 60 limit on the bend.

So although they do generate a good return, I'm not sure they are positioned for revenue. The tunnel is a very prominent position.

Thanks for confirming. My husband mentioned that he thought he had seen this last week. Even more reason to me to avoid that road then.

Actually, with the cold weather and the elevated section prone to icing, they've reduced the limit to 40km/h. Just noticed that last night -- there are temporary signs up.

No need to avoid it, just drive responsibly.

Yes, except they are not close enough to each other on the photo. Driving here seems to require bumper to bumper driving, weaving and braking like maniacs.

Such a relaxing experience, and I thought the M25 and M1 in the UK were bad.

Honestly... I'm usually doing 100kmh through there. But since the snow I haven't been driving because I never put winter tires on my car. Guess it worked out. hehe.
