Buying online E ticket on SBB website

Hello everyone. I have just tried to buy some train tickets from Geneva to Lucerne on the SBB website but can only get as far as entering my birthdate... I enter the birthdate, complete the rest of the fields, hit enter, but it doesn't seem to want to accept the way I have entered the birthdate... I have tried so many different combinations... what is the format for the birthdate on there? I have tried 15/03/80, 03/15/80, 15 March 1980 but nothing seems to work... Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong? Thanks if you can help!

Thank you so much. I've had this problem evertime I tried to use it and just ended up giving in and going to the station to get my ticket.

Re: Buying online E ticket on SBB website

If you have smart phones then the SBB app is brilliant. Lookup travel times, buy tickets, and use your phone as a ticket with a QR code image. Awesome. If only their readers actually worked it would be perfect, but most times I have had to hand over my phone so they can enter the ticket number by hand because the scanner they have is stuffed, or too dirty to read the phone.

Re: Buying online E ticket on SBB website

I still haven't quite booked mine... the website suggested I go for the '1-day travelpasses for the Half-Fare travelcard'.... but I haven't got a half fare travel card... and I got a bit confused!!!! So I'll try again tomorrow... but I'll get there though!!

Re: Buying online E ticket on SBB website

They do sell the Half Fare ( Halbtax ) card to non-residents and ship it abroad - well worth IMO. Cuts down the cost of your tickets by up to 50%.

Get that first and once you have ordered it, then buy the long distance ticket at a discount.

http://www.sbb.ch/en/travelcards-and...ravelcard.html

Order it here online: https://www.sbb.ch/en/ticketshop/b2c/start.do

Halbtax

Gleis 7 ( Track 7 for passengers less than 25 years old http://www.gleis7.ch/home/ )

Sorry, could not find videos in EN.

Re: Buying online E ticket on SBB website

Work out how long you'll be in Switzerland - and how much the tickets will be - then work out whether it is worth it.

My parents visited us 3 times last year - and they just about made the card work with day trips and zurich passes.

HOWEVER it did motivate them to get out and see more places - and they did do some cool train journeys. They were also amazed and just how easy it was!

I have the app and agree that it's great for timetables, but I cannot get it to work for buying tickets - it keeps telling me that first I have to register my means of payment on the online Ticket Shop... which I have already done. No doubt I am missing something very obvious...

Re: Buying online E ticket on SBB website

Now they have "improved" the site it is impossible to navigate through the site to buy a ticket.
Jeez there´s a rover on Mars but someone designs an unusable web-site. God protect us from these IT folks.....
