A question about the Tageskarte Gemeinde

I am new to this whole gemeinde tageskarte....
How does it work if I reserve one to a municipality, can only the person whose name and address it is reserved on pick it up? or anyone can pick it up for them?

What happens if I realize that there is no way for me to get there is there anyway to cancel a reservation or is there a penalty for just not picking it up?

How does this all work?

Thank you to anyone who has advice!

Re: A question about the Tageskarte Gemeinde

As far as I understand, only the person who reserved can pick it up (with proof of ID). There's no fee for not picking it up, though who knows, they might blacklist you!

Re: A question about the Tageskarte Gemeinde

thank you- thats very helpful....
I dont understand the language but one of the rules state
"Verhinderung

that sounds like a fine to me--- am I wrong??

You're not wrong. The rules vary by Gemeinde, but most will send a fine in the post.

You'd probably get let off if you ring them and cancel it beforehand. If you pick it up though it is transferable, so you could try selling it on.

Exchange of the card and reimbursement of payments are impossible. This is also the case if you lose the card or if it is stolen.

Für reservierte,

50.- will be charged for reserved cards which haven't been picked up."

Hope I helped.

Re: A question about the Tageskarte Gemeinde

Thank you for both that translated- It is helpful to clarify this.

I think I made a big mistake, I dont think I can have it picked up by the name I put the reservation on- and since only that person can pick it up I am hoping they will let me cancel it.

Re: A question about the Tageskarte Gemeinde

I can say that someone else can pick up the ticket. I did it while 2 tickets were booked on my girlfriend name.
Also I can tell you that if don't pick up the ticket, you will be fined. I have been through this too. 88 CHF fine for two tickets.

In my Stadt, it is not possible. I guess it varies between parishes. Mine verifies that I am a resident, checks the reservation number with my permit / ID before allowing me to pay for it. I live in another area ( Wädenswil ZH ), but was also checked / verified when I bought it at another parish / gemeinde ( Dübendorf ZH ) - this was the email I received.

Re: A question about the Tageskarte Gemeinde

In Basel Stadt I reserve online then print out the confirmation and take it in to collect and pay. They have never asked me for ID. Maybe if it was in a female name and a male went to collect they may ask. If you send someone to collect as originally planned with every intention to collect and pay for the tickets I can't see how they can fine you. If you don't turn up at all then they might.

Re: A question about the Tageskarte Gemeinde

I would just turn up to pick it up and tell them that the person who booked it wasn't able to get it...

if you have all the 'connecting' details then certainly my gemeinde wouldn't be bothered. And the alternative is that the person who booked it contacts them and tells them they no longer need it, but that you would like to pick it up instead.

As long as it's picked up by a resident, I don't think it matters.... if you cancel it, someone else can use it...

This depends on the Canton. In Solothurn and Aargau, you do not
have to be a resident.

Re: A question about the Tageskarte Gemeinde

I never know that a reservation is needed.
Can't I get it directly if I go to the "Gemeinde"? I am flexible...

I never do that!

Re: A question about the Tageskarte Gemeinde

Another point is that, if you order them early enough, they can be mailed out to you ... then you just have to make sure the name matches the mailing address!

Re: A question about the Tageskarte Gemeinde

Here as they know me, I can turn up and ask if they have cards for the next day, or whenever, without booking on line. Or I just ring and ask them if any available for such and such a day, and ask them to put them aside. But sure, if I didn't pick them up, they would charge me for the tickets + perhaps admin fee.

What is definitely NOT allowed, is to buy tickets and sell them on.

Re: A question about the Tageskarte Gemeinde

Hi,

I have just reserved and paid with VISA a Tageskarte Gemeinde, but I don't really know if I have to pick the ticket in the "Gemeinde" or if they send it!
My german is still very bad.

Thanks.

Once you have bought your ticket it is yours. If your plans change and you find someone to buy your ticket, good for you. It is not against the law. The SBB doesn't check to see if you "match" your ticket.
