| | | Car from another Kanton with almost expired MFK
Ok car guru's, could you please advise me on this one as I'm not sure.
The car is a Swiss car on Swiss plates and for private sale. The owner missed the invitation date for MFK as he was out of the country, and a second date has been given for May. The car is in a different Kanton to where I live and to get a test in Zurich can take 8-12 weeks... so passed May.
Should I buy this car, what are the insurance implication/legality if the MFK expires before the change of ownership/registration in newKanton/test date is sorted out.
Thanks in advance

MFK doesn't expire.
What will happen, is that some time after you register it in your name, they will send you an invite to bring it in for MKF.

I can also confirm this. When I bought my car the mfk was quite old...i have no idea how he got away with it. Anyway...it was in Luzern and just a few days after I registered the car in Zurich...mfk letter was at the door. Very quick | Quote: | | | | | MFK doesn't expire.

Does the fact that the car is a 2001 have any impact?
EDIT: Sadly it's not a TVR

EDIT: Sadly it's not a TVR | | | | | Just that it is will be every 2 years for the MFK - that is all. Autoscout is awash with 2001/02 cars without a current MFK.
