Hi All,

i have been looking into getting my A1 liceense and was about to send in the forms to apply for my learners permit when a chap I was speaking to at work seems to think that if i am over a specific age i can just go up to the people who issue the license and they will add the A1 to my license as i was born before 1975. he said it was an old mans rule or something?

does anyone know anything about this before i wonder up and enquire directly?

If you know any german It says basically that if you already have B for the A1 license you only have to take 8 lessons, no exams or anything like that. If you have taken the exam for B before April 2003, you automatically also have "A1 limited", which allows you to drive small motorbikes with up to 45 km/h.

I passed my B (car) test in 1993 in the UK so yes that allows me the "A1 limited" which i guess is up to a 50CC.

Interesting thing is if i look at the categories , there's no such thing as "A1 Limited"...

You need to talk to the driving school.

Nothing to do with age - anyone with a car licence can get an A1 licence after 8 hours training.

Read your own link. You mix categories. A beschraenkt is bikes up to 25 KW. A1 is for 125cc up to 11Kw.
