Do you have any idea about "gemeinde tageskarte"?

Hello,

I heard that there is a cheap day pass which is called "gemeinde tageskarte".

I just searched over the internet,
I found out that I should make a reservation to use this.

Is there anyone who can tell me how to use this ticket?
I want to know if there is any restriction for this ticket.
(for example,
I have to be a member of certain commity,
I can only reserve the ticket assigned to region that I live,
I can use certain # of passes in a year, or something like that...)

Cheers

You can use the day travel card belonging to a Gemeinde if you are a registered resident of that Gemeinde. The prices of these cards are usually lower than the regular cards. Regular cards require that you have a Half Price Card, and cost Fr. 39 for unlimited travel within one calendar day at the moment, as they're on special offer until 8th December. If you're travelling further than about 100km in one day, they're usually the best option.

No, you do not need a half-tax card to get the price. There are a certain number of "gemeinde tageskartes" available per day, I think 5. You need to get them in advance as they go quickly. For CHF 39, I think, you can go anywhere in Switzerland for that particular day.

Here is the site. Tells you which days have tickets and where to get them.

Don't be put off if you don't see your Gemeinde on that site. Mine isn't there but certainly offers this service.

There are different amount of cards available depending on the Gemeinde. Ours has three. Prices can be different too. In Goldau, the Kantonal Bank sells their card for SFr. 28. In most other places in our our area, the cards cost SFr. 32.

Re: Do you have any idea about "gemeinde tageskarte"?

One thing to know about these rail passes is that you can usually upgrade them wholesale to first class, or just by a first class supplement for particular legs of the journey. I did this for a trip from Basel to Biel to take a ride on the lakes there. It turned out to be cheaper to only get a first class upgrade on the train ride, as the boat was 2nd class only.

To upgrade these passes, just grab a seat in first class and wait for the conductor to check your ticket and ask him if you can upgrade.

Re: Do you have any idea about "gemeinde tageskarte"?

Hi,
I saw in ricardo, some people selling the gemeinde tageskarte. I wonder if it is safe for me to buy these cards from ricardo, since I don't belong to the gemeinde. Do they just check your localities when you are buying it from the gemeindehaus or do the SBB conductor check also on your localities during the journey. I don't want to end up being penalized because of "illegal usage" of the tageskarte.

Re: Do you have any idea about "gemeinde tageskarte"?

I am also looking at that 4 day travel pass which cost like 250 per person.

my friend has also just mentioned this to me.
so what's the difference between the travel pass and this card that you've mentioned? other than it's wayyyyyyyy cheaper?

thanks

True, you dont need a half tax card on it. Its a fixed price with OR WITHOUT a half tax..

No restrictions, 1 whole day use.

You live in Bern? Find your village here:

http://www.tageskarte-gemeinde.ch/KarteReservieren/BE/

and you can buy anywhere else, but you have to reserve coz it also runs out, if you buy to your own gemeinde. Then sometimes you get reducted prices.

Re: Do you have any idea about "gemeinde tageskarte"?

I'm adding Zurich Gemeinde Tageskarte to this thread.

SBB Tageskarte for Stadt Zurich residents are available from the SBB office Urania Pavilion which is in Werdmühleplatz in Zurich about 5 mins walk from HB.

They are available up to three months in advance, can be used by guests as well as people who don't hold half-fare (halbtax) cards.

The cost is 42chf each.

There are a limited number, and they are booked for a particular date of your choice then cannot be changed.

They are not-refundable commercial resale is prohibited.

There are a limited number of tickets per person. you might need ID to get your tickets (to prove you live in the right area).

Techincally anyone can use it as the only thing the tickets have printed on them are the date of validity but to buy them you have to be resident of that Gemeinde.

The 9'o clock pass is valid only after 9am, but what about the Tageskarte Gemeinde? Is it valid before 9am or is it treated like a 9'o clock pass??

Re: Do you have any idea about "gemeinde tageskarte"?

Not all gemeinde tageskarte are restricted to you living there, some gemeinden let you have them if your not from there it tells you on there websites....

They are like fresh buns though they go really fast. they cost anything between 28 and 35 chf the last time i looked.

You will only be asked where you live and a proof of where you live when you buy the card after that it doesn't matter.

So if you are having visitors and wanted a card for them you buy it and give it to them....

The card is valid for the day (and only that day) which is on the card.

They are good value for money...

Yes you it's safe to buy these cards on ricardo.....

happy traveling

I can't believe they spell Fribourg "Frybourg" on that site :S. It's not a comprehensive list either, my commune, Villars sur Glâne, sells day travel passes for 30.-, but is not listed.
