Man with Van

I have seen a few requests for a man with a van.

This guy has helped me before and can be hired. He can arrange van transport and able bodies to help carry and move. He is based in Zurich.

Basically, a man with a van.

Just grabbed this from a Coop notice board:

Man with a van, CHF 60 an hour, all in. No idea of his name:

Re: Man with Van

My reviews of men and their vens.

1. Selman - 0786441927 (Zurich) - didn't answer his phone so no review.

2.
Man with a van, CHF 60 an hour, all in. No idea of his name: 079 401 4058 (Zurich city and area) - Wangled him down to 100CHF an hour for him and his mate to do all the carrying.

3.Herr Kenny ' a man with a van' known in Switzerland as a Bruna -Waren taxi (079 223 80 10) - Costs 180 an hour and doesn't provide a buddy to help carry.

Re: Man with Van

Ok review time:

His name is MILAN:

Wangled him down to 100CHF an hour for him and his mate to do all the carrying.

Great stuff... secured everything really professionally in the van, took a great deal of care with my furniture. 100% on time and reliable.

Will use him again without hesitation!!

The van is BIG and has plenty of space, I'd say about this size.

Man with Van

Hello I am seeking help to move a washing machine from Balgrist to Buchegg platz. I am 8.5 months pregnant and on my own, so any help is highly welcome. I will pay for the service of course.

Hope to hear from you soon,
Loretta

Re: Man with Van

I have just arranged for Selman to come later this evening at short notice for a 30 minute job across Zürich. He seemed nice on the phone.

Re: Man with Van

I highly recommend Gregory:

079 695 21 43

He is Swiss, his English is very good, and he's a good guy. Very reasonable rates, and he owns his own truck. He is very professional, being careful with the inexpensive second-hand stuff I was transporting! In my case, I helped with the moving and he came alone. I suspect he could arrange help depending on what you need.

Re: Man with Van

So, we ended up using "Herr Kenny ' a man with a van'"... he was grumpy on the phone, he was grumpy when he turned up and we had 4 boxes, 2 suitcases and 2 rucksacks when I'd only said "4 boxes, 2 suitcases" on the phone, he was grumpy during the 10 minute journey from Cramerstrasse to Konradstrasse and he was grumpy when he just handed us our things from the back of the van without helping to load/unload any further.

I'm not sure why he was so grumpy when he made 100 CHF for exactly 15 minutes work.

Re: Man with Van

Yes, he can speak English. My experience with Herr Kenny wasn't all too great either. We agreed something on the phone and then he raised the prices on spot because he *misunderstood* what I had said. Though, he did help me with loading and unloading. But, for the price I piad, I would have expected loading and unloading help.

Next time I'll just make multiple trips using mobility's Vito. That should work out to be cheaper.

Re: Man with Van

@boyInterrupted - he did *exactly* the same thing to us, made us feel bad because he 'misunderstood' the order on the phone, increased the price on the spot and was generally not very nice or helpful.

Yesterday we had to move a sofa and called Selman. He was busy but put us in touch with his friend called Thomas. He helped us with the sofa from a 5th floor apartment to our new place. He was very friendly and extremely helpful; a world apart.

In short... call Selman. Do NOT use Herr Kenny. He is a sneaky con man.

Does he do trips to Italy too? I stay outside Zurich, an hour's drive ,and need to transfer back to Italy with furniture. Or does anyone know someone who can do it for a reasonable fee?
