Could somebody please let me know what is the process next I mean what should I need to do now to get licence.

Can i simply book another date for test or there is some other process?

Did you fail the control test for converting your license into a swiss one? Like 1 hour test, driving in the city/driving on the highway with an examiner?

Hara Kiri?

Seriously, you are located in Zürich (per your biography).
Do you work in Zürich?
If so, why bother?

Sorry to tell you, but your current license will not be valid for driving in Switzerland, it will be the same as if you never had a driving license. You will receive your driving license by post along side with all your documents. Your license will have a stamp "NOT VALID IN SWITZERLAND".

You will need to do a driving course from the very beginning just like you did back in your country, you will have to pass theoretical test, first aid, driving lessons with instructor...Than you will be tested in parking/city/highway driving...And after 2 years you have to attend a course with an instructor to receive a full driving license.

I think the cost will be between 2500-3000 CHF depending where you take the course...But if you are caught driving without a license the fine can be more than that I think.

Really sorry for your situation, wish you luck in the future with your driving lessons.

Re: Failed My driving Test... What next

Thanks ,
I know my driving is not bad and I was failed just becuse I was driving at a speed of 45 in zone 60 for some time.

Is there something I can do as I have already taken 10-12 lessions and spend 1500 CHF.
Can I just apply for a learning licence and give the test again?

Regards,
Udayan

If you failed because you felt unsure or you made too many errors, don't be upset but take it as a sign of a need to have more lessons and more practice.

What Ratbag probably meant was that if we are talking conversion test you have to do all the process again up from zero, as if you had never got a license before. If you live in the city centre, take it easy and prepare it good this time.

Re: Failed My driving Test... What next

I am afraid Udyan , you will have to go through the process right from the start including theory test.

I also believe the insurance cost for you will be high till you are on a probationary license- so do account for that as well.

Driving 45 in 60 zone will make you fail, yes, but didn't your instructor told you this before? The control test is a special test where they want to see you driving fluently without much hesitation and slowing down traffic...

I believe the all the lessons you've taken won't matter onto your next course, you will be treated to the authorities as you never had a license in the first place and you really need to start from 0. The thing is, the next exam will be a bit different that this one, they will want you to do different things as a beginner and the level of the test will be stricter than this one! They will be very picky about rules and about little things, whereas the conversion control had different points to check.

Sorry for your situation, I think you will discover it will be a mess, really hope you find a way out and pass the test in the future.

I fear you cannot.

However, what is important is to understand why exactly you didn't pass.
If you don't speak enough German ask someone who does to help you getting this info.

Hi,

which country is your original driving license from?

There is a plan B, but it depends a lot on your current license and your current residence status.

Christian

Oops - my "plan B" doesn´t work for you, sorry.

In case someone else has a similar scenario: It´s sort-of easy to change *many* licences into a Belgian one. All you need is a Belgian residence, your old driving license, a handful of EURs (16 when I checked last) and two passport pictures.

In practice, register your address in the Commune where you have Belgian friends, swap your driving license into a Belgian one, once you have it you can de-register again. Should be a matter of a month or less...

You can then happily swap the Belgian license into a Swiss one, w/o any tests.

I just happen to know, because my wife (holding an "exotic" license before) lived with me in Belgium before we moved to Switzerland. We (highly officially) swapped it into a Belgian one, and thought it´s the same all over Europe. Later we saw the problems people of her nationality have in the same scenario in Switzerland...

Hence not sure if it´s possible to go this route, but with a bit of bureaucratical imagination I wouldn´t say it´s not...

They keep your records. I don't think they will accept the new license. For sure they do cross reference check and also you have to have a license for a minimum of time to apply for the swiss one. Plus the hassle and the cost of doing it it might supersede the 3k for a license here.

But you can always try...

I guess if you are officially resident in Belgium, and officially not resident in Switzerland, then there´s nothing much the Swiss authorities can do against this, no matter how short the timespan you "officially" went to Belgium.

However, the overall hassle might actually be quite big.

I´m happy we just fell into this category without actually planning it, and having really been resident accordingly.
