As generally it's not allowed to use non standard parts so there is not much demand in CH.

Googling K and N air filters brings up several sites in the UK willing to supply them to Switzerland.
As for other parts, you'll probably get similar results if you try google.
Getting things through customs, the delay and the taxes you'll pay is something else you'll have fun with.

The Migros and Coop sell basic car maintenance stuff (oil, spark-plugs, etc.) and most car showrooms have a parts department (eg: Autobritt, Audi), but here aren't huge warehouse-type shops, such as I believe you find in the States. Tyres and exhausts are usually supplied and fitted at specialist workshops (phonebook should have those listed under Pneus and Echappements).

Modifications are frowned on here, and the Bureau des Autos in Geneva take a very dim view of anyone who presents a car for inspection with even basic stuff like a more efficient exhaust system if it's not on their approved list.
Make a friend of your local garage, ours in Plan-les-Ouates is amazing!

Re: Car customization and parts

I would suggest rupteur.com, they sell online and have a shop in Geneva.
Market for DIY tuning is narrow, as mentionned above, the SANs in some cantons (including GE and VD) are very picky, sometimes beyond common sense or even the letter of the law. Central Switzerland appears much more lenient, i passed my 550M with Tubis on with compliments from the guys for its "mean" exhaust note, while it would have been a suicide mission in Vaud. Even city andcanton Police are trained to spot the obvious in case of a random control

Add to this the fact that your K&N are unlikely to yield anything positive without a remap, and a significant power hike can turn into a legal mess in case of a severe accident.
Best advice is to leave your car stock or go to the guys that deliver you both results and homologation papers, for instance Sportec, Abt, Novidem.

Re: Car customization and parts

Thank you all for ur efforts. I forgot to mention that I needed it for my car in my home country and not willing to use it here in Geneva. It's just that it's hard to find such parts in my country.

I might go for www.rupteur.com.

Thanks

If this is the case, use uk or us companies. There will be a lot more choice and it will cost you far, far less.

It would have been nice to have known that in the first place..... saved everyone from wasting time looking things up to you.

Suggest you google what you're looking for and find a parts supplier willing to export to Eygpt (as that's presumably where the car is; your profile says you're eygyptian).

I really did google for swiss shops coz that's where I want to get it...and the guys here really helped me. I haven't thought of uk websites as I was more concerned to find a shop here in Genève where I live now. The part might get stuck in Customs and duty if I am to order it to Egypt.

Sorry if I wasted your time, but at least I got some help.

It's more that giving all the relevant facts helps us give you the best information.

Please don't think that getting car parts delivered into Switzerland rather than Egypt means there won't be (sometimes) long delays and quite high customs fees. Small stuff is probably ok but we once had an engine block stuck in Customs for six months!

Out of curiosity, how are you then getting the stuff home without going through customs?!

Try to look at some german websites. Sometimes you can find it easier and cheaper to pay for post fees

Burying them among my tons of clothes..Normally at the airport your luggages won't surpass any checks...They normally ask you verbally if you have anything to declare...and even if I got caught, people there won't really realise what it is. My bro had two rc cars and 10litres of Nitrous Fuel for those cars in his luggage, and they let him pass with no charges. Lately, he brought a 3D 51" Led TV and they didn't realise that it was actually a 3D tv, otherwise they would have charged him a 300 EGP for each inch (that's a sum of 2,550 CHF).

Remind me never to fly to Egypt...bloody hell 10 litres of Nitromethane in a suitcase?
How did that even make it onto the plane in the first place???

Well, I was just like you when he told me that he had this flammable thing in his luggage. Sadly, he was flying Swiss Air and arrived at Cairo Airport and that was at the time of Hajj (pilgrimage) which is the busiest time of the year for Arab airports. He was asked about what he had in his luggage and he admitted it was a fuel, the guy only stared at him for a while to make sure he's serious, but the sarcastic way my bro talked with forced the guy to let him go. If he had arrived to Elnozha airport (and that's the smaller airport in Alexandria) who wud have been caught in the airport becoz they kinda check every luggage as there aren't many flights there.
