| | | what transportation title to buy?
Hello,
Next month I'm going to move to Zurich and I have question about transportation title.
They tols me, the transportation title will cost me 310 CFH / Month. I'm going to travel from Central Station to Rotkreuz (Zug) every day. I don't want, right now, to travel to other cities, like Berne, Lausanneor or Geneve , I just want to this this travel every day and travel inside Zurich.
What are the alternatives that I have? How much gonna cost me this alternatives?
Best Regards
Paulo Aboim Pinto

The 2nd class GA costs CHF280 a month, valid everyday for one year to anywhere in CH, not only from Zürich HB to Rotkreuz. http://www.sbb.ch/en/travelcards-and...dividuals.html |

Things you should also consider are, will you be requiring local transport in Zürich? Will you be travelling in your free time? Quite soon you might find that a GA is worthwhile. It gives you the freedom of (virtually) all rail lines plus local transport across Switzerland. So if you need to go shopping, or spontaneously decide to spend a day hiking in the mountains or attend an EF social event or whatever, you won't have to stop and work out what ticket is best and whether you can afford it. You'll soon found you'll be out and about much more and making much more of your stay in Switzerland. If you have family, there are also family versions (the other memebers of your household can buy similar tickets at reduced price). It's very attractive.

Well ... I want to keep it simple right now and then I will choose what to buy.
I'm going to arrive on the 15th of August and start working on the 16th. For now, I just want something that let me travel inside Zurich and travel to Rotkreuz. Nothing else.
I don't have family. I will be alone in Zurich and at begin I don't want to travel far away. Maybe in the future... not now.
Can i pay this ticket every month or I have to buy the year version?

I have the solution for you my friend....
The Z-Pass, I know a lot of people doing your commute and they prefer this to the full bells and whistles GA.
Here is the site for more info: http://z-pass.ch/schwyz.html
Just ask at the SBB counter for this in Zuerich when you arrive.
It costs CHF233 for 7 Zones (610, 620, 630, 110, 150, 151). Note that 110 counts as two zones.
Make sure you do not take the slow StadtBahn S9 which takes a lot longer and crosses into other zones not included in the zones mentioned above.
This option works out at around CHF1300.- cheaper than the GA (CHF3350 - CHF2097), you can then subscribe yourself to a halb tax card for CHF165 and get half fares to your destinations of choice within Switzerland which will be flexible enough.
I hope this helps.

Tkx for the information... but even 233 CHF it's expensive ... but if the rules are that I will live with that!
I don't undestand one thing: how can they check if i'm outside my zone or not?
Another thing is, what's the "halb tax card" ???
this ticket it's personalize? I need to put a photo or something?
regards

Paulo Aboim Pinto | | | | | If you get checked on the train by someone (and this happens a lot), you will get a ticket and fine if you are not in a zone covered by your ticket.
half-fare card: http://www.sbb.ch/en/travelcards-and...ravelcard.html - this gets you half off most travel in Switzerland. Passes like the one mentioned are generally not included because they already include some sort of discount.

| | | Re: what transportation title to buy? | Quote: | | | | | but even 233 CHF it's expensive ... but if the rules are that I will live with that! | | | | | It costs CHF18 return from Zuerich to Rotkreuz with halb tax, and CHF36 without halb tax card.
Halb tax card is just a yearly/two yearly/three yearly card you pay for upfront to make your fares cheaper.
So as you can see the CHF233 is significantly cheaper than buying the tickets daily and it also gives you the option to take an unlimited number of journies within the zones specified. | Quote: | | | | | I don't undestand one thing: how can they check if i'm outside my zone or not? | | | | | The conductor gets on the train finds that you are on a train that goes into a zone that is not specified in your pass. He asks you what your final destination is, and if the final destination required that you cross a zone unspecified in your pass then you have to pay a fairly hefty fine depending on what type of train it is and whether you had this problem before. | Quote: | | | | | Another thing is, what's the "halb tax card" ??? | | | | | See answer above, but also check the www.sbb.ch website plenty of info about traveling in Switzerland there. | Quote: | | | | | this ticket it's personalize? tell me one more thing, how much it's this halb tax? I found this page: http://www.sbb.ch/en/travelcards-and...ravelcard.html
I only pay this once per year? (if I buy the 165 CHF model)?
After pay this value I get the discount in my month ticket to half?

Paulo Aboim Pinto | | | | | yes, 165 Chf for the year
You don't get a further discount on the monthly ticket that the love doctor mentioned. it's only on other tickets. (e.g., Zurich to Bern, you would get it half priced). it pays for itself pretty quickly.

if you don't want to travel anywhere else except work and home and places in between, then get the monthly ticket from Zurich to Zug for 233/month.
after a bit of time here, you'll probably want to go somewhere else, so then you could look at getting the half-fare card or the GA mentioned here. | Quote: | | | | | sorry .. you got me lost ... not on this month ticket, only the others?

Unless you really have decided just to see nothing of the country except for Zürich and Rotkreuz, which would be a shame...

What's gonna happen it's this. In the first month I'm don't wanna buy anything expensive, because I don't know if I'm gonna still live in Zurich or even if I gonna move to Zug.
After I made that decision, I will buy what's the best ticket...
Right now and for the first month will cost me 233 CHF. After that we will see...
There is any way to make this 233€ less expensive? After all the talk, look like no, right?
