| | | Major accident on the highway this morning
This morning I drove past a serious accident on the A3, and it was a pretty devastating scene. A white SUV with trailer embedded in the central reservation and a convertible car on its roof about 30M further. Looking at the convertible I assumed that the driver must have lost their life since the wind-shield had collapsed and it was lying flush with the highway. A passing ambulance and a few motorists were already at the scene but there was little they could do until further help arrived. As I left the scene and continued towards Zurich I saw an armada of police, fire crews and ambulances racing towards the accident from the opposite direction.
It cast a spell over my entire day and I couldn't stop thinking about it, but just now I've found a link to the accident and I'm so relieved that the convertible was actually being trailered and so there was nobody in it. Furthermore the SUV driver was only slightly hurt. I can go to sleep now feeling a lot better | | The following 16 users would like to thank Castro for this useful post: | Angela-74, Deep Purple, hannah'sauntie, latigresse, lost_inbroad, meloncollie, miniMia, miss_bean, Nil, NSchulzi, Oldhand, Peg A, Sandgrounder, Sbrinz, SuisseRomand, Sutter |

Dreadful scene, my thoughts are with all those involved.
But PLEASE tell me you didn't slow down to take a picture, whilst you were driving I posted this due to a report recently in the UK about some people taking photos at a serious accident site- filmed by police. Why the groan Rtfpete?

Hurtling down the highway at 130 km/h is a risk in itself, and no matter how careful you think you are you can never account for things like a tyre blow out, jack knife lorries, careless drivers etc.. If taking the train was a viable option, I'd abandon my car in a heartbeat.

There was a report in UK this week, where the police set up cameras at an accident to take pictures of drivers taking pictures & sent them all letters, cant remember probably also had fines

The Autobahns are, per km, safer than other roads.

This accident has been playing on my mind all night and I was trying to find the link to it in French or English.
I'm also glad there was no one in the convertible! And now I'll learn to read the whole post/thread!
Phew.
