Failed MFK

Hi,

I had my MFK this morning: The guy was friendly but at the end, I did not pass the test because the break hoses were dirty outside and one was not screwed in the same way as the other -_-
I did not try to discuss with him ... so I have 14 days to have the car rechecked in very short time slot (30minutes ?) every day.

Does this involve any fee/penalty ?

Thanks

Re: Failed MFK

No, you just need to pay for a new test.

Re: Failed MFK

To avoid this, we always ask our local friendly and trustworthy garagist to check the car thoroughly before the test- as he knows exactly what's what. We can also pay him a small fee to take the car to be tested himself - and he can discuss and fix any minor thing there and then- avoiding re-test.

It may cost you nothing, if you have been told you can turn up any day, they will quickly put you on a ramp, check it has been fixed, and sign you off. Job done.

However a first test is 65 CHF, a partial retest is 45 CHF from memory so I don't think your saving any money at all.

They complained the brake hoses (29 years old) were a little dirty but OK on car a couple of months ago! a badge was loose & I had to sign that I would fix it without a retest! I actually have the 4 hoses ready to change.....

Re: Failed MFK

Depends how far your testing station is and how much the local guy charges. It saves us a lot of time and hassle anyway.
