I am new in CH. Now ordering a car, and not sure if i should include the alarm in options or save the money?

No - save yourself the bother and your neighbours wont have a reason to complain when it makes a noise.

Haven't they been standard on most cars along with an immobiliser for about the past 15 years?

Agreed that they serve no purpose apart from shattering the peace of everything within 500m.

Even if fitted, there's a good chance an alarm will be disconnected because it's too loud. Immobiliser far more effective anyway imo

Here they do not steal cars that cost less than CHF 100K new & are less than 6 months old.

which car in this age doesnt have an alarm or immobiliser? unless its a dacia type of vehicle.

Pretty much any car has an immobilizer these days but alarm systems are often optional.

Thanks all. So many quick answers. Its a new car with immobilizer, also with insurance i am not much concerned about the car being stolen. I had a previous experience of getting my car opened and laptop taken away, but this was in the other part of the world. From the suggestions seems like i shouldnt expect such things happening in CH..

No you should expect things like that so just be smart and take expensive things out of your car like in any country(not sure whether you were being sarcastic or not ). A car alarm doesn't really help much with a smash and grab anyway.

You need at least two alarms, a big dog with sharp teeth, an automatic weapon and a knife tucked into your sock.
