(I've given this some thought and ultimately decided to post it here, rather than in the ForSale/Wanted section, reason being it's addressed to a narrower segment of people and it would probably help more if it's here than between ads about beds and flower pots ;p... of course, if mods decide my judgment is wrong, please move it there)
So, I've been looking to buy a specific used car for quite some time. In fact, I generally am the kind of guy to hunt for a car for a long while before buying it, just so that I find "the right one". I did it also with the first car I got here in Switzerland, in fact I stalked it for a year before buying it. All that time (and even now) I've kept an eye on websites like autoscout and mobile (CH/DE) to feel the market.
Unfortunately, as was previously discussed here, there seems to be quite a discrepancy between what gets posted on said websites and what one can find in various car parks around the country(side) and is NOT posted on the internet. The specific car I'm looking to buy has 5-6 hits on autoscout24, while I've personally seen about 5 others in a radius of 15km from where I live.
So, my idea is simple: if there are more people like me, keeping an eye out and occasionally stopping at car parks around, why don't we pool our knowledge? It should be rather simple: whoever is looking for a specific car posts it here and if someone else happens to have seen a good match somewhere then he answers posting details.
Please let me know if the idea makes sense and I'll be the first to start
