I'd like to rent a car without a credit card that is still on its way by the post

Would anyone of you know about a possibility or company that would be able to do this in or around Zürich? I have all insurances (Privathaftpflicht, etc), so any "Security Deposit" would not be necessary, me thinks.

Mobility will do it, some small rental companies take 1000-1500 CHF deposit too.

thanks - mobility is not really an option as I need about 3000km on the car over the next week, so I need unlimited miles

As far as I know it is not possible from all major companies. Tell us how you get on. It is the same in the UK btw- we've had to go to the airport several times to rescue visitors for that reason (and had to pay for me as extra driver as the card has to be in rentor's name!). Bonne chance.

I believe the 'no card, no car' is to stop people renting and driving out of the country, never to be seen again.

If I did not have a credit card and needed to hire a care, I would ask a friend who had a credit card.

Believe car companies like credit cards, as a guarantee for getting their car back, as well as any major damage that might be done to the car.

Yes I know the rules. And a friend's card does not help as they need to be in the driver's name (yes we tried).

The strange thing is that the cars are insured against pretty much everything (damage and theft), and there is no deductible ("selbstbehalt"), so I don't really see the point in this. Other than that, the personal insurance should cover every damage you would do to the car.

I got my PIN code today in the post. Hopefully the card comes by 27th.
