Hello everyone,
Me and my boyfriend we are going to catch a flight to newcastle from geneve, and because we were never in geneve we need help to know the cheapest way to go from Schaffausen or Zurich to Geneve and were we can stay 1 or 2 nigths without paying a lot?
Do you know if there is a camping place that rent a bungalow or something like that?because normaly it´s the cheapest way
And the train station it´s far from the center of the city?and the airport? How we can go from the city to the airport?
Thank you for any help that you can give us

Camping in January? Most places are closed until Easter this year.
Buy a return travel ticket online here, the offer is a special price for holiday makers from airports directly to holiday destination, taking the shortest route! http://www.sbb.ch/en/leisure-holiday...m-buchung.html
normal return adult fare is CHF 176,-- http://www.sbb.ch/en/home.html you need Zurich Airport to Geneva
Geneva Youth Hostel http://www.yh-geneva.ch/index.php/en/our-price.html (From CHF 38,-- per night / per person)
You might want to join the YHA in Britain and save some money here! It's necessary to book a bed in good time!
Geneva is one of the most expensive cities in the world, try not to be shocked! You won't find better prices than these.

Had you planned a bit earlier, you might get cheap singles from Singen ( via Schaffhausen / Bülach / Zürich ) to Geneva, no Zugbindung ( free choice of trains, hence get on / off ). train tickets from Germany | | This user would like to thank jrspet for this useful post:

The train from Zürich HB to the Geneva airport takes just under 3 hours. Most of your choices are direct, meaning you would not have to change trains. You can search schedule and prices on sbb.ch.
Accommodations in Geneva are generally pricey. There are some hotels near the airport but those are not very nice and certainly not worth the money. Honestly if you want to save on costs, I would just take the direct train and not stay overnight.
However if you want to visit the city it's not a problem and you can catch a train from the city to the airport on regular intervals. I will defer to others on cheap accommodations (if there are any) in the city proper.
Have a fun trip! | | This user would like to thank 3Wishes for this useful post:

but thanks for the info I will check the links to see if I find something nice | | | | | The camping sites are closed. The Geneva camping opens on 4. April 2013, there will be nobody there to open a bungalow for you, http://www.reisen-tcs.ch/travel/de/h...e/vesenaz.html
If you have a friend and you know the date, then you can get one day Gemeinde tickets, and travel anywhere for CHF 40,-- each adult.
PM me for my address and give me your name and address, and send me the Fr 80,-- in cash. I will go and buy two for you, but they sell out fast, so let me know which date ASAP please!

For your next trip, discover Switzerland cheaper by rail using TCV fares ( you get ask for SSIC-NRT / TCV ticketing from British Rail or ideally from Eastern European rail outlets ). Link
This is what I do when I got to Bratislava or Praha and obtain route tickets to Germany and other Western European destinations. You can also explore Russia up to the Chinese border using Bratislava issued TCV / SCIC-NRT for pennies on the dollar using City Star tickets.

For 58CHF you can buy a tageskarte at any SBB location and it will allow you travel after 09:00 on any given day. Dont need to be resident and this will allow you to travel the 3hours plus to Geneva easily and this rate is very cheap.

I have a DB issued BahnCard with RAILPLUS hence a 25% discount when "crossing" the border to CH, but board only in CH to GVA ( typically EUR22 discounted if bought early enough ). Mind you, it is only to GVA city station, not to the airport station.
The SBB Daycard / Tageskarte requires an expensive SBB Halbtax / Half Fare card. http://www.sbb.ch/en/travelcards-and...ravelcard.html

I would need the money ( 80 francs) before 20th February to buy the ticket and post it to you.
On which day do you want the 2 tickets, for travel? On the 26th or on 27th February?
It would be helpful in future if you gave all the information in your first post, we have had to drag it out of you...
Two adults are flying on Thursday 28th February 2013 at 14:05 from Geneva to Newcastle, but want to stopover 1 or 2 days in Geneva. Is this correct? http://www.yh-geneva.ch/ |

Thanks but I think it will not be necessary because as I told before I have a friend that can do that,my doubt it was if he can buy two tickets at the same time but he will do that for us,but because it´s the first time he do that (he never travel buy train) he didn´t knew that but if is possible he will do it for us for sure...Once I have the tageskarte if I want to travel from other train station it´s not a problem right?I can travel from where to where I want in the day of the ticket?
