Eek - is she out of her mind!

I've just seen a woman drive by my house in an open top convertible. My outside temperature gauge is showing 4.6 degrees C. All I can say is brrrrr - she must be freezing!!!

Top bird. Sounds like she's the kind of rare breed who doesn't want the heating on in the summer. Did she drop a business card? I am interested.

Probably a Geordie lass ...... short skirt, bare legs and no knickers (hope she had the heater on full blast).

We've often driven J's Audi TT with the roof down at that sort of temperature. If it's nice and sunny, just make sure you leave coat and gloves on, turn the cabin temperature up a bit, and don't go much over 100kph it's absolutely great. She's out in it today, as it happens, but not down your way unless sh'e got very lost.

I used to drive my Alfa Spider with the hood down in the winter, as long as it wasn't raining. With the sun out, hat and scarf and heater on it's very cosy.... and a great hangover cure.

Slap wrist Mike; if you're driving with a hangover, you're probably still over the limit

Re: Eek - is she out of her mind!

A couple weeks back we were on the train, and it was snowing outside and it must have been negative 5.....and I saw this guy wearing shorts.

I did forget where I was for a moment and said WTF quite loudly

I do wonder sometimes if they read a totally different weather forecast to the one I read

More like badass. And convertibles tend to do a good job of cocooning you with warmth for cold top down days.

But one of the best driving experiences was when my Dad and I were on a road trip together in his convertible and the skies opened. Let me tell you...not getting wet at 80mph while passing others feels so cool.

If it's raining in the "winter", then it's not really winter eh.

Re: Eek - is she out of her mind!

Nope, sorry JBZ86, she had both hands on the steering wheel.

She had a coat on, but no gloves or hat, didn't notice what other clothes she was wearing.

Bluecat74, yes I saw a guy wearing shorts outside the other day too. Weird.

For myself, I'd just made a nice cup of HOT coffee when I spotted her so I sat down and enjoyed being nice and warm even more after seeing her. Especially as our cental heating boiler wasn't working yesterday and I was feeling frozen with the indoor temp at 17 degrees! Luckily the nice boiler repair man soon fixed it for me.

Re: Eek - is she out of her mind!

Have done this before with a friend in a Sebring back in the day - "Florida Alaska" we called it, nice and toasty warm inside with the heater on and windows up, but nice sunshine shining down on us with the top down. Ahhhh yeah.

Wish I could agree Leafy, but I'm British too and an American Okie so I know what cold is. Of course when I was a kid in Oklahoma and the temps were down to -20 degrees F or more we had the sense to stay indoors!
