Hello,

I'm going to be in St. Gallen for work and it looks like I may have my weekends free. Whats the cheapest way to get to a ski resort from there? And does anyone have recommendations for particular resorts? I've never snowboarded in Europe before is there anything I should know? I'm planning to just bring my boots and rent a board once I get there. I know for a long time a lot of american ski resorts were anti-snowboard and went so far as to disallow it, but those days are long gone right?

The closest places would be in the "Toggenburg" region, just like 30 minutes away. It is relatively low, so the snow conditions will turn bad earlier than in the high resorts. I do not have experience there, just went hiking in Summer at the Säntis once...

My trip is going to be from Feb 25 to March 20 or so. Are there places further out that might be more worthwhile? I wouldn't mind paying more for a more worthwhile experience; who knows when I'll get back out there again. I may also extend the trip with some vacation so I could always go somewhere further out and possibly stay overnight.
