L-Driver accompanied by driver with Intl. License?

Hello,

SHORT:

Can an L-driver drive when accompanied only by a visiting non-national who holds an international driving license?

LONGER:

Due an administrative oversight on my part I have to re-sit my driving test in Switzerland. I have done theory, eye-sight and first aid, and now I have my "learner license" (Lernfahrausweis).

The law on when I can drive is pretty direct: I need to be accompanied by a driver older than 23 who has had a corresponding open-ended license for at least three years

(Lernfahrten der Kategorie B dürfen nur mit einer Begleitperson nach deren 23. Geburtstag unternommen werden, sofern diese seit mindestens drei Jahren den entsprechenden und unbefristeten Führerausweis besitzt.)

My question is the meaning of the word "corresponding" (entsprechenden). My Dad is visiting, and I'd like to bring him for a drive round the mountains. He holds an International driving license for the same category vehicle, it is open ended, and, yes, he is older than 23 years :-\ Am I allowed to drive with him as the accompanying driver (Begleitperson)?

It would be great if I could find an authoritative answer for this, I've looked everywhere, and called a few places without much luck. I was also unable to find any thread on EF which already addresses this question.

thanks
PB

Above in Italics, it states that International driving licenses MUST be presented with the national driving license:
i.e. the International driving license by itself, is not valid as a permit to drive.

To be sure you should go and see your local Strassenvekehrsamt and ask them.

Re: L-Driver accompanied by driver with Intl. License?

May I ask how long did it take to receive your learners license after applying? My boyfriend is Greek and lives in switzerland and he completed his First Aid course in July and applied for learners license around the 20th July (before August anyway) - he has not heard anything yet? After some research am a bit a confused - some say theory is to be done before applying for learners license where others say it's after? he hasn't taken the theory yet..... but wondering what the normal time frame is for receving the learners license? Not even going to go there about the cost for the whole thing......

Art. 15 VZV https://www.admin.ch/opc/de/classifi...index.html#a15

Der Lernfahrausweis wird nach bestandener Prüfung der Basistheorie erteilt.
A learners permit will be issued after the theory test has been passed.

This says yes, it is allowed (it's in German)

Pascal Blanc:
Grundsätzlich ja. In Bezug
auf den Führerausweis der Begleitperson
gelten folgende Voraussetzungen:
– gültiger ausländischer Führerausweis,
der den Inhaber zum Führen des Fahr-
zeugs und zum Begleiten des Lernfahrers
berechtigt;
– Voraussetzungen von Artikel 15 Absatz 1 SVG sind erfüllt;
