Hertz ( www.hertz.ch ) or Sixt ( www.e-sixt.ch ) are pretty good ...

Re: Cheapest car hire in switzerland?

When I looked around I found National Car Rental gave pretty good rates:
www.alamo.ch
However I was also told that Europcar.ch have special weekend rates if you go and directly ask at one of their offices.

But if it is just short trips then mobility.ch is the best. Membership is only 25CHF with your ZVV Netzpass card.

Cheers,
Rupert

Re: Cheapest car hire in switzerland?

If you're going to need this regularly you might consider joining Mobility. It comes miles cheaper than renting from any of the big companies plus the big guys have a nasty habit of hiding away in the most inaccesible of out-of-town industrial estates and airports whereas the nearest Mobility place will probably be around the corner.

Re: Cheapest car hire in switzerland?

I need the car for a weekend trip during which i'm thinking to cover something like 2000km at least.
This immediately bring me to the consideration that i can't do it with a smart (2000 km in two days with the smart i think i will collapse) or similar and i will need something much more comfortable. The problem is that they charge unbelievably for a reasonable comfortable car

Like someone else said before www.holidayautos.co.uk and book a few weeks ahead.

If you are doing 2000km then a 3 day rental fee of chf170 to chf200 for something like a Ford Focus is a bargain. You can be sure that you have devalued the car by a multiple of that when using a newish car.
