We were looking for English course as a requirement for drivers licence course for my wife and although assured that it would be EN, it ended up being DE. It's all about feeding the social system with CHF100 per person and once the certificate is obtained its valid for several years. You can pass it with a very basic local languages knowledge
It's two days long course taken over the weekend. Important is to be always on time and listen to the very boring lecture where half people fall asleep, so I heard. Somone who was late one hour, had to redo the whole course on the next possible date.
My better half has completed "Nothelferkurs" course yesterday in Zurich but I believe similar procedure applies to other cities. First DL step accomplished! http://www.nothelferkurs-bern.ch
Btw: We also ended up buying DE,IT,FR theory DVD which we would want to sell because the shop assistant made a mistake assuring my better half that it was in EN. We couldn't return it for some strange reasons and she got another DVD in EN. So the original is still available if anyone needs it for less than the face value.
