We have recently arrived in Zurich and do not have a car yet. We desperately need a van or something alike to go and fetch a few boxes and our bicycles that we sent from SA, from the airport to bring to our appartment in the centre of Zurich. Can anyone suggest anything or help please?

Try http://www.mobility.ch although you will have to sign up for a trial or full membership and thus, it could take a couple of days until you get your membership card.

If you need a van more urgently, try the websites of Avis or Hertz. Avis at Letzipark and Hertz at their Hardturm location in Zurich rent vans.

Sixt also rent vans. www.sixt.ch

We just moved recently, and we found them very helpful.

Ikea, too (rents hourly).

I've used unirent many times and find them affordable and efficient. Bear in mind this time of year sees a lot of house moves, so vans, large cars etc. are in demand. A VW Caddy will cost around CHF79 a day or CHF 56 for a half day

also check out conforama, Otto's, Fly and Migros (they have rental vehicles in larger M Parcs).

I'm in a similar position as Miekie (and also from SA). I managed to find a van only after a cancellation from Hertz Hardturmstrasse. Thanks for posting this information. I was going crazy with no luck at Mobility, Ikea, or anywhere else for that matter.
