Amazing place, proves that rust never sleeps, but I'm sure there are some enthusiasts out there who would still love to pick over the remains for useable parts.
Also, the use of the term "old timers", is this just a German/Swiss thing? Coming from Australia these sort of cars were referred to as "classics", with specific older cars being vintage or veteran classes. The Independent used the term, and I'd previously though it was one of those odd German uses of English words, but not used by English speakers.

I am not going to be showing that to my dad just in case he is looking for a new project to add to the ones already in his garage .

Incidentally there is an (old style) american car meeting held there once a year, this year it will be on the 16th of june. It's not a big event but it is worth a visit. | | This user would like to thank MissBehaving for this useful post:

Edit: If you can wait for a little while there will be a national art exhibition held there, starting on the 31st of May. More info here - only in German though.

It's the German term for classic cars - as in Oldtimer Magazine
Slightly off topic, but has anyone ever been to the Historic Grand Prix in Monaco? I have the chance to be in Monaco on that weekend (May 10th/11th). I'm sure it's worth going but does anyone know if it so overly controlled that you can't get near the cars or track without being (or paying to be!) a VIP?
Some nice pics here (no, I'm not referring to the top banner) Monaco[

They just started getting it together, but looks like it's evolving quickly. This is their latest bulletin. http://www.autofriedhof.ch/download/...lletin-108.pdf | | This user would like to thank J_T for this useful post:

Hi ALL,
Good to discover some classic car people in the FORUM. I have been fossicing around and come across 2 vehicles I,m interested in , both total rebuilds but with minor panel and structural(that I can see at this stage).
Is there somewhere I can find if there are any govt.regulations regarding how much work I am allowed to do on the vehicle , club registration , requirements for "roadability"(ie;is 6 volt allowed on the road here)
Does anyone know the legislation for importing a classic(not drivable , about 2000hrs roughly) from Germany or eastern europe?
Does anyone know the rules for driving rhd cars here?
I have become interested in 40,s , 50,s , and 60,s European cars since being here.Back home I have a Triumph 2.5 TC , a 6cyl Austin Princess , and a 1938 Ford (a little pickup)
Cheers all.The show in Arbon was goog as was the American show 2 days later in Onesingen.
Bye for now.

I believe there is a exhibition of some sort (I think to do with photography) at this "graveyard". My dad LOVES anything to do with cars so was thinking of taking him when he comes to visit. Has anyone been to this to let me know if its worth the trip?
Thanks
S

Are they for sale or just for looking, could be an interesting project if the price is right.

There're also some modern art installations there but not my cup of tea. Nothing else to see really in Kaufdorf, so maybe worth it if you combine it with a trip to Bern?
