Need spare temp tyre, wrench and a jack

Hello,

I bought a second hand 2010 Audi A6.

I need to buy a spare temp tyre (the dedicated slot for it is empty), and the tools (a wrench and a jack) for replacing the tyres.

Where do folks buys such items in Switzerland, and especially around Zürich? Is there an online option?

Thanks
- C

You could try asking these people. They don't seem to have any parts for your model/year but they are part of a group of spare parts companies.

Would be worth sending them an email.

A lot of cars don't have them any longer, look in the back, you'll probably find a compressor and a can of fluid, it's the "new" spare wheel

Any case when was last time you needed one ?

Yes, Audis (and VWs) of this generation only come with the repair kit unless a spare tyre is specified as an optional extra. IME these kits are perfectly adequate for any puncture you'll get in normal use, e.g. a nail or other foreign body in the treaded part of the tyre. I've had occasion to do this twice on VAG cars and they've both run happily for thousands of kms afterwards, despite manufacturer warnings to say you should replace them asap.

What they won't help with is damage caused by heavy impact with a sharp kerb, for example, when there's a gash in the sidewall. Not done such a thing myself for many years, of course

Thanks. This is a second hand car, it didn't come with any compressors. I have the slot for the spare tyre but its empty.

In any case, where can I get a spare kit with the fluid and the compressor?

Re: Need spare temp tyre, wrench and a jack

You have been talking about a "temp" tyre but you might want to check if you can fit a full size tire in the place for the spare. I had an A4 Avant S line with the space saver tire but I seem to remember (can't be 100% sure) that there was enough space for a "real" tire.

It might be easier to find a real tire/rim (even on a steel rim) and just buy the Tork wrench size needed and a small jack from Jumbo or other.

Here is a photo of what the official kit looks like on the A4. The A6 should be similar. Space for a full size??

I guess a good starting point would be an Audi garage as oposed to a Toyota dealer.

You are looking for part number 8P0 012 615C. You should be able to buy it from any VAG garage.

Here's one on ebay: http://www.ebay.de/itm/Audi-VW-Skoda...3D200905339437

Re: Need spare temp tyre, wrench and a jack

If my winter and summer wheels were the same diameter, I would consider carrying an "off-season" wheel as a spare. Unfortunately they are not, so I'm stuck with the compressor/foam emergency kit.

Re: Need spare temp tyre, wrench and a jack

never understood why people remove things like the jack, tool kit, first aid kit etc from a car when they sell it, WTF are they going to do with it?? especially with modern cars, the jacks are unique to the car model so totally useless unless they have bought the same car again, which will come with one anyway.

people are idiots

The original car mats as well. I've even known second hand car dealers do this in the UK.

Re: Need spare temp tyre, wrench and a jack

Thanks for the responses. I ended up ordering the 8P0 012 615C (thanks Village Idiot) from VAG.

I am not sure if the tyre space in the trunk is large enough to house a summer tire (winter tyres are on now). Maybe if I deflated that would work.
