Chunnel services suspended due to fire

Check if you're planning on using either Eurostar or Chunnel services. No news yet when it'll be back in operation.

Re: Chunnel services suspended due to fire

Apparently it was just a Carbon Dioxide detector that activated. Fortunately not a fire. Hopefully, it will be back in operation by tomorrow, though Eurotunnel haven't said yet

Latest Travel Information 17/01/15
Earlier this afternoon, CO2 detectors were activated in one of our running tunnels. Our Passenger service is currently suspended whilst we await feedback from our teams in the Tunnel. If travelling today, customers are advised to postpone their journey if at all possible. We will post a further update as soon as more information is available.

Re: Chunnel services suspended due to fire

Looks like may be some disruption next weekend too.

"Temporary Overnight Tunnel Closure
Saturday 24th / Sunday 25th January 2015
Due to an overnight safety exercise taking place in the Tunnel on the 24th to 25th January, all services will be temporarily suspended whilst this is carried out.

Local time departure information is as follows:

24/01/15 Last Departure
From UK 21:20
From France 22:20

25/01/15 First Departure
From UK 06:20
From France 07:20

Customers travelling on these departures should ensure that they arrive 45 minutes before for check-in. Please be assured that departures either side of these will run as scheduled.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause to your journey and would like to thank you for choosing to travel with Eurotunnel Le Shuttle."

That's assuming they don't reschedule it of course.

Re: Chunnel services suspended due to fire

Update on the closure today:

Quote:
Following the announcement from Eurotunnel that it will be opening its south tunnel later this evening (17th Jan), Eurostar can confirm that it will be running a normal service on Sunday 18 January 2015, for passengers who have an existing reservation for this date.

As Eurotunnel has advised us that its north tunnel will remain closed all day tomorrow, Eurostar services will be subject to delays of between 30 and 60 minutes.

All passengers who are booked to travel tomorrow Sunday 18 January should check-in as normal half an hour before departure.

Eurostar services tomorrow are already very busy and availability is limited. If you were on a cancelled train today and need to travel urgently tomorrow, please call our contact centre on 03432 186 186 after 08.00 (GMT) tomorrow and we will try to re-book you on a service departing after 12.00 (GMT).

We would strongly advise passengers whose journeys were impacted today by the problems in Eurotunnel not to come to our stations unless they have rebooked through our contact centre.

We are sorry for the inconvenience that passengers have experienced today.

---

If you were due to travel on Saturday 17 January and were impacted by the tunnel closure, you can exchange your ticket free of charge, to another available service anytime within the next 120 days, or apply for a refund.
