Travelling from Zurich to Venice

I saw on these forums that the cheapest option to travel from Zurich to Venice would be to get a ticket via SBB from Zurich to Milan and then get another ticket from Milan to Venice. The cost from Zurich to Milan this way is 85.5 CHF (I have Halbtax).

I noticed that there might be a cheaper option. I can go from Zurich to Chiasso for 35.5 CHF and then take a train from Chiasso to Milan (which I heard is 20 CHF at the trainstation? - http://www.rome2rio.com/s/Chiasso/Milan). Does this seem legit?

Re: Travelling from Zurich to Venice

A cheaper way would be to go by bus - 70 CHF gets you all the way from Zürich to Venice.

Re: Travelling from Zurich to Venice

Once I went from Zurich to Milano via Chiasso. You can get SBB super saver tickets for Chiasso which would be cheaper than normal ticket but you will have to travel in the train for which ticket was bought. From Chiasso you can buy ticket for Milano and I guess it was less than 6 Euro.

I didn't see the super saver tickets available. When/how are they normally available?
