Import questions - Porsche Cayenne

I'm preparing for a move to Zurich later this year from the US, and am trying to decide if it's worth shipping my '09 Cayenne over.

I've read a few other threads around some of the issues that may crop up when importing cars from the US-- including one specific to Cayenne's-- but was hoping someone might be able to provide specifics.

Importing a Porsche Cayenne

I keep reading lots a posts about replacing headlights. What exactly are the CH requirements for headlights? I have Xenons on the Cayenne. Would they need to be replaced?

Aside from having to replace the speedometer dial (only shows MPH, no KPH at all), is anyone aware of other replacements I'll be required to make?

I'm hoping that since it's a German car, the required updates will be a minimum.

If you have Xenon's you need light washers which will be expensive and messy on this type of car, plus speedo, maybe lights too.

It will be expensive and probably cost more than the car is worth if you tried to sell it. It will also be priced at 10-15% lower than compararable Swiss car and a little old to be any interst here.

For his car, 6 years old............it's not overly interesting, i would think very carefully as once it's shipped here, it's here, whether you can then use it or not may prove difficult.

Sorry, to clarify: the headlights already have spray washers (no wipers). As long as Xenons are permitted, that's good to know. I wasn't sure if I'd have to replace the entire light assembly.

I wouldn't be looking to sell it, just have it to drive.

I came off the autobahn, the other night, behind a Cayenne ...... every time it braked (which was unnaturally often), I was blinded by the overly bright lights - even the illegal blinking red turn signals were far too bright .... must have been a US import that somehow bypassed the system.

You can have the red blinkers these days. As a matter of fact many of the requirements seem to have dropped.... . Im bringing my old tahoe over here(1999) shipped for free and I have to make NO modifications (foglight, orange blinkers etc)

fyi I am importing to Belgium and driving it here on USA plates till I am required to import. also keep in mind that there is a HUGE delay for shipping out opf california. I have been waiting 3.5 months now....all our belongings are in said truck also which is really annoying
