Re: Car attacked and partly eaten by a rodent.

Our BMW was attacked many years ago after being parked at a friend's overnight. They like German rubber too

Mine is Swedish rubber!

They seem to be not too fussy

Unfotunately it's a bit late for this, but get a very cheap quartz watch and attach it to something in the engine. Martens HATE to noise, inaudible to us, that these quaertz watches make.
This is also useful if the timing's a bit off.

When we lived in Singapore I read in the local 'Straits Times' about a snake which nested in the engine compartment of a car and laid her eggs...!

I was always a bit wary about going to our car in the underground car park at night after reading that....!

Maybe it wasn't a Marder but a Bernese mountain capybara...?
I think this now answers to the mysterious events post storm this weekend when I found my convertible, in the garage - where I had left it so no mystery there - but would not start. I suspected the battery was flat, which it was so still nothing unusual as apparently I had left the inside light on ( still in 24 hours these should not flatten the battery to the point that it doesn't even lock/unlock the car) Managed to get it to work with the help of the friendly repair service .. yet it made a terrible buzzing noise (like someone was drying their hair in the glove compartment with a really loud hair dryer) ....

Finally manged to drive it to the garage where they discover that the foot well in the back seats is covered in one inch of water. No clue how that got there! car was, as I said, in the garage during the storm - even if she had the roof down still, the garage was dry, car wet.#

All the electrics have gone mental and can't even think what may have happened to the circuit board underneath the floor....

So it MUST be the Zurich Capybaras making themselves a little private pool in my car, is all I can think of.

Wait till I get my hands on their furry little tails and turn them into a nice coat to pay for what will no doubt be some serious repair bill.

The garage engineers say that the aircon is gas based so the water should have no relevance.....

Will see what the insurance says but I am far from happy, for sure.
