Hi there,

Is your Dodge registered under a type-approval or as a non-type-approval vehicle?

See vehicles grey card item 24. Look into it and please state the number/letter.

Then we can plan the next steps.
It will arrive in approx 1 month so I'll find out then..

Cheers

I have an American car (Dodge) that was imported by a Swiss garage and has passed the MFK in its current condition.

Sorry, my bad. It will come, and the MFK will be organised by the dealer and it will pass.

Is it new? Did you order it through the dealer?

ok whats the exact model? if the model was never never available here then you're in for some very big bills to get it an MFK, or do you mean the model is available here, just not in this spec?

Re: Car modifications and MFK

We had loads of trouble with the MFK just because the Model of our car in CH has different .... upholstery! It took several visits and finally our garage took the car in and gave them what for. So I wish you the very best of luck.

Re: Car modifications and MFK

Yeah the car is new, purchased through a Swiss dealer. The final price includes the car itself, shipping, MFK etc. Delivered to me with Swiss plates and fully certified to be driven on Swiss roads. Even a tank of petrol and a Vignette.

So the car itself is OK, it's just the modifications I'm worried about

I tell you what, you start helping us by giving useful answers to questions and then we'll start helping you.

Meanwhile I'll keep wondering why the modifications weren't ordered by you through the Swiss dealer - who is not a Dodge dealer?!?

None of the latter additional information/clarification given actually relates or helps the solve/answer the original topic of this thread.

The "Swiss dealer" as mentioned above could perhaps be better classified as a "Swiss Importer". Although they sell imported cars and non imported cars, so I guess still just a "Swiss dealer". They are not directly affiliated with Dodge.

And so, in answer to your question, they were ordered with the car simply as they are not an option. They are accessories that can only be purchased.

Can we please get this back on topic... OEM accessories getting authenticated / verified to the "Swiss standards" so that they can be legally fitted to cars here. Not where I bought the car, is it new, is it old, End of the day the car doesn't have the parts on it, and so I want to buy the parts and fit them, but before I do that I want to figure out how I can make it all legal in CH.

Cheers

Re: Car modifications and MFK

Then ask your dealer/importer if it will be registered as "Typenschein X" or as a EU or Swiss type approval.

Hurry, hurry, pick up the phone, I do not have all the days time. You already wasted some, with not giving the exact information from start...

Re: Car modifications and MFK

I can't be arsed to read through the post, lazy me I have a 2013/14 model mustang imported by a 'dealer' sounds much like yours, they import, mfk, sell and that's it.

With the paperwork of the car are 4 A4 pages of spec I have to keep with the car, without it it can't pass an MFK, its even down to the rear indicator flash (the mustang flashed them in sequence by default, switzerland said no, they must all flash together) the HP limits etc etc etc are all on these certified papers, pics of the car etc are also on there iirc

So, I'd say no, it won't pass an mfk if you put these extras on, unless you can get swiss certificates for them, just import it, mfk it, then stick your addon on it, keep the original for its next mfk (5 years isn't it) and when the next ones due put the old bits back on, or sell it beforehand

Re: Car modifications and MFK

just to add, you won't get away with a tow bar added after as if the police stop you and its not on your paperwork you'll be fined, just take the car to a towbar place and get a swiss approved one installed, problem sorted

I can ask the question verbatim but I need to know at least a bit about what I am asking and why, if you have time to explain. Do the different types/categories you've mentioned mean different things in regard to MFK?

Thanks

If type X you will need all the documents that come with the car as they won't have the information to reference in the computer. This means they will check absolutely everything to make sure it is as originally stated.

And you should have bought this http://www.usa-autos.ch/fahrzeuge/al...uge-a-z/dodge/

Re: Car modifications and MFK

Okay, thanks. I've sent the question to my dealer contact.

As for the 70's Dodge Challenger you have there, I already own some 1971 Chrysler muscle so now its time for something a bit more modern
