Geneva to Florence this Easter

We are going to Florence over the weekend. We're planning to head off around 3-4AM and hoping to get there around 9-10AM. So from Geneva we are taking the Mont Blanc tunnel. We know there will be a lot of traffic due to the holiday. Does anybody know which roads to avoid?

Re: Geneva to Florence this Easter

why you would not take the train, I don't know. Easy round from Geneva to Milan and switch to a Red Arrow and be in Firenze before you know it.

Anyway, avoid Milan. I would be tempted to get down to the coast and take it slowly.

Do you know if you can enter the city with your car? ZTL is common and cars like mine are not allowed in at certain times (Euro3 diesel).

Holiday. Well, we are expecting it to be traffic that's why we're leaving that early. We're not taking the train because it's more expensive.
I've read about that ZTL thing. We are going to be parked in a hotel 20 minutes away from the center and take the public transport to go around the city. Hopefully it wouldn't be too traffic!

We will try to avoid Milan and probably take the Turin route. Thanks!
