Importing UK car - speedometer/odometer

Hi everyone!

I read your posts quite often but this is the first time I write

I realize there are a lot of threads on the subject but I didn't find this mentioned anywhere.

Basically in 1 month time I will be moving from Nottingham (UK) to Zurich and I would like to bring my UK car with me. I am aware I will need to chance the headlights to LHD but what about speedometer and odometer? My car has already got a secondary speedometer in Km/h but the odometer is in miles.

Do they need to be changed as well?? Or fixing the headlights is enough?

Thank you so much in advance!

Hi, as long as kms are on the speedo dial it's ok. The odo is of no concern to the testers. I brought my uk car also so have been thru the process and it's easy.... Once you know what's needed

Bring one of these with you, called a litter picker on Google.

You will find it invaluable when inserting the parking ticket into the exit barrier ticket reader.

LMAO I have a right hand drive too so this is a good idea! The mini dealer swapped the headlights with a simple switch and the spedo has both and I was able to swap the digital version, so I think cars these days are easier than they used to be

My car is a very (very very) basic model, but it shouldn't be too expensive to change the headlights and the spedo has already got both miles and KM....so hopefully I should be fine

Thank you

Thank you, this is exactly the information I was looking for.

I think I know what it's needed, I found a couple of very good guides here on the website on how to import RHD cars!
