Parking near Les Docks, Lausanne

We're going to see Of Monsters and Men at Les Docks in Lausanne tomorrow. We're currently undecided whether to go by train or car, if the latter, does anyone know a good parking spot near to the venue (Av. de Sévelin)?

Aha, it's that kind of area, is it?

Maybe we'll just get the train and walk (I'll be with wife and teenage daughter).

Re: Parking near Les Docks, Lausanne

There is a lot of parking as its on a well known industrial estate. As the other OP hinted at, its also used for other things!! I would take the car as you wont then have to walk past all the hookers on the way out after the gig.!

yes, rte Geneve and Sevelin too (they used to hang at the roundabout which leads you to Les Docks, to be honest I haven't seen them the last few times I was there I wasnt looking for them, honest!

there are some parkings around there, white zone blue can't remember if any underground parking in good walking distance. You might be lucky for a blue parking but at 9pm maybe not.

we've had some corporate parties at les docks and other big companies I know do them, so will be fine. Perhaps you take the bus stop nearby. You will have to walk either way i think, car or bus.

"They" got kicked out and their numbers have significantly reduced (say, from 120 girls/nights in weekend evenings to 10-20's).

As for the parking, let me scrub my brain-
I should know, I lived nearby for over 5 years!

Re: Parking near Les Docks, Lausanne

Right, without much details (time of arrival, free parking or not), I have to be inaccurate:

1) Paying parkings:
-In the big one near flon
https://www.google.ch/maps/dir/46.52...a=!4m2!4m1!3e2

-In Malley, approx 15-20min walk:
https://www.google.ch/maps/dir/46.52...46.5273527!3e2

There's also a paying underground parking in the Migros nearby:
https://www.google.ch/maps/dir/46.52...959978!1m0!3e2

2) Free parking (blue zone, where you need to put the disk, you can stay 59min in "paying times"). Say you arrived at 19h01, you need to mark 19h30 in the disk, and can stay until 19h59, well 20h00. Then, after 20h00 is free until next day 08h00.

There are a few spots with "disk" around here:
https://www.google.ch/maps/dir/46.52...4ddb68!1m0!3e2
There are "traffic" around there, so people can come and go with their car. Meaning it can be from 0min to find a spot, until 25-30min waiting, if no cars are clearing...

Right, if taking the train, there's a stop at "Prilly Malley", 15-20min walk.

Re: Parking near Les Docks, Lausanne

There is parking space in the the street as the "les docks", it is an industrial area, so after 6pm, no problems at all.
"Les Docks" is about 10 mins from the main station, if you acces the Avenue de Sevellin from the Bridge (Pont Chauderon), on the left side you will find an elevator , which will you take to the metro station (Lausanne Vigie), leave the metro station to the parc in direction of an skateboard venue on the left side, on the right side after 300 m , you will find "Les Docks".

Re: Parking near Les Docks, Lausanne

tons of parking. there's a lot in the flon if you don't want street parking and the night time action is tame and not that much of a problem. if you take the train, then you can take bus 3 or 21 from the station to cecil. cross the street go down the steps and head to the left. you'll find it there. frankly, if you have a car, i'd take it just to make things easier getting home. enjoy!

Re: Parking near Les Docks, Lausanne

Well, that was easy. Plenty of empty business parking right by the venue. Cracking gig too and great venue

Oh and yes, there were a handful of helpful ladies directing traffic as we were leaving, though I didn't realise mini skirts were standard issue for Lausanne traffic police
