License plate

Hi!

I would like to sell my car personally and not through a dealership.

If someone would buy it, how could I write it on his/her name?
And what would happen with my own licence plate?
Do I have to give it back or I just keep it? (Im moving out from Switzerland.)

Many Thanks!

Take a look at the first few threads in the list. There's plenty of helpful advice.

1) Just hand him your Fahrzeugausweis (the grey registration card). Unlike in the States, there is no sellers report of sale and/or bottom (back?) of your car's title to fill out and sign.

2) Your plates remain the property of STVA/SVSA/SAN (or whatever your local DMV's name is). They don't belong to you. You need to remove the plates before giving your car to the new owner.

3) Without surrendering your plates to STVA, you can never cancel your car's Liability Insurance.

HTH
