Trip Zurich to Basel

Dear EF's,

I will be going from Zurich to Basel to watch the champions league qualification game on Wednesday 5th of August. I never travel that direction so don't know the traffic and the access to the stadium.

Do you know how much additional time I need to be there on time and not late for the game?

If you try and drive to the stadium by car, you might not find a parking space before the start of the game!

Try using public transport, they run extra trains and buses & trams on match days.

Plan your journey using street names and city: http://www.sbb.ch/en/home.html

Car is the only option for the moment....

I have checked and they have 1000+ parking places so if I will go earlier then there should be a place, no? What do you think when I should arrive there to find something?

Re: Trip Zurich to Basel

On busy match days football traffic is often directed to other more remote parking places from which they can take a tram or bus to the stadium. Easiest would be the town centre ones, e.g. Elisabethen, Anfos, SBB, which are on the major public transport routes.

Re: Trip Zurich to Basel

I will go from Zurich around 5PM so latest in Basel would be 7PM - I hope

Then we will have some time to find parking.... Do you think this is enough time?

1. Impossible to say, without knowing what time the match starts.
2. Probably not, unless you know where you're going.
3. Did you actually read any of the previous replies?

Re: Trip Zurich to Basel

Don't worry, everything is Swiss organised to perfection. Whilst you are on the motorway and near to Basel signs will direct you to a parking place usually on a industrial area, then a special bus service will take you to the ground and back again when the game has finished.
