BigB.ZH has slipped a little
SBB Inter-City pass not valid on Buses locally?

For my wife's travel between Zurich - Luzern, I got her a monthly pass from the SBB counter.

To my surprise, she informed me today that she was checked in a Bus near Oerlikon, Zurich while she was on her way to catch a train from HB and was given a ticket for CHF 75.00 by the ticket-checker saying that the SBB pass is not valid on the bus!?!

I have not had to travel inter-city so often, but earlier in the day I used to travel on a tageskarte and that covered the local transport in the destination and source cities mentioned on the pass.

daily commuters, what does your experience say?

of course, I will stop by a SBB Counter later today to get this clarified, but curious in the meanwhile

Intercity is city to city. Doesn't cover local transport. Why would it?

Re: SBB Inter-City pass not valid on Buses locally?

If you bought a TGV ticket from Basel to Paris, would you expect it to be valid for Paris subway, too? While the local bus will be partner to SBB, the two are different animals altogether.

Re: SBB Inter-City pass not valid on Buses locally?

You can buy tickets of the sbb , which will cover the city of zurich (destination) and lucerne (departure ) as well.

https://www.sbb.ch/ticketshop/b2c/adw.do?4092

It is called city-city ticket, you can choose, if you want the ticket for the departue city and /or the destination city as well.

You can combine the ticket with the half tax scheme.
