Train to Malpensa from Zurich

Does anyone have any experience with this direct train via Bellinzona/Giubiasco?

Re: Train to Malpensa from Zurich

No, but I do know that it is out of order since a while, and will remain so for a while (at least until the end of August).

And that's just the Swiss side until Luino, Luino to Malpensa is another problem, out of order since December, no news on when it will be in order.

It's replaced with a bus, which takes about two hours longer than going to Lugano and taking a bus.

Fastest and simplest way would be Zürich->Milano Centrale->Malpensa. It's 3h50m to Centrale, and then 50m to Malpensa.

In other words, almost an hour longer than Zurich->Lugano, and then the bus.

So, NOT the fastest.

Re: Train to Malpensa from Zurich

don't forget to factor in the usual delays on trains to Milano Centrale.

there are a few companies doing transfers to Malpensa. Also they tend to miss out the queues at the border because they use the coach lane. An excellent service and relatively cheap.

presently you must come out of the station on platform 4 on the Sorengo side; the buses are parked opposite the car park and you have to enjoy passing all the parked bikes....and it's not a drag-along friendly surface

Re: Train to Malpensa from Zurich

And there's the new bypass that knocks 10-15 minutes off the Lugano-MXP time.
