Has anybody in the past payed to get a number plate in Zürich?

Moving the car to one kanton to Zürich

http://www.auktion.stva.zh.ch/

I get to know how it works BUT I don't find anywhere the "associated costs" that they say you will be charged with the final amount that gained the auction. I guess they are the same as when you just go there and grab the first number they have available, only the fees. Can anyone confirm it?

Re: Has anybody in the past payed to get a number plate in Zürich?

sorry do not remember the charge for number plates. Probably they sent the invoice to home address later, should imagine it is less than 50chf.

They will ask you what size number plate your car takes, small or large. They take a bag and either they choose or you choose a 'lucky dip style' number.

BTW, presume you will advise your Insurance before you go there.

Yes - according to someone who has recently changed cantons a few months ago, he said new number plate cost 60 CHF at the Strassenverkehrsamt. As mentioned previously, you need to bring proof of your insurance with you.

You don't need to kale proof of insurance, they will know if you have insurance for the vehicle you are trying to register.

Re: Has anybody in the past payed to get a number plate in Zürich?

Plates are 20CHF a piece, so 40 CHF for the set. That is ZH prices, regardless of format and size. So 20 CHF flat fee, either for front or rear, long or high format, car or motorcycle.

The site you linked to in the OP is for the "nice" numbers that are auctioned off.

Just go to the STVA and register the change of canton and they will do everything. You might also be charged an extra 20 for the new grey card...

Re: Has anybody in the past payed to get a number plate in Zürich?

Hi Don Molina (and all for your replies),

Indeed I put that website because I would like to get a "nice number" affordable, and when I submitted the AGB I read the statement "usual fees bla bla bla", so that's why I was asking.

Thanks!!
