Advice needed on direct import, and extended warranty

We received what we think are two excellent offers in respect of exchanging our current car for a larger family car (Renault Grand Scenic).

One of the cars on offer is a direct import car, which was brought into CH by our local official Renault dealership (it has the letter X in the Typengenehmigung).

My questions are:

- are there any drawbacks on buying a directly imported car, especially in terms of future resale value and appeal in the Swiss used car market?

- is it worth extending a new carīs warranty from 3 to 4/5/6 years?

Thank you in advance for your kind responses.

I would clearly expect for the imported car to have a lower resale value because potential buyers will take your lower purchase price into consideration.

TBH I think they are worth the same, the purchase price is irrelevant. A dealer taking it in part exchange will say it's the wrong colour & it's an import
