Buying used Hyundai Santa Fe 2009 model

Guys;

Happy to see lot of good info on the forum.

I am in Switzerland since last 4 months & planning to buy a seven seater SUV.

Was actively looking for Nissan Qushqai, Mitsubishi Outlander & Hyundai Santa Fe in the budget of around 11000 chf. I intend to use this vehicle for 3 to 4 years & expect around 20000 kms drive a year.

Can you advise if I should really expand my selection? To be quite frank, I was looking for only German & Japanese cars. Your advices are most welcome.

Autoscout24.ch has a new advertise on Hyundai Santa Fe 2009 model & with quite cheap 9000 chf. It is driven 106000 kms. Do you see potential issues in the car? I intend to visit the dealer on Monday. Do you recommend specific questions around warranty or anything else? Anyone ķnows about 10 year warranty plan by hyundai dealer if it is available to next owners?

Appreciate your responses.

Regards;
Rahul

Hyundai is Korean, not Japanese. But if you are looking at them, also look at the Kia Sportage. They are made on the same production line in the US and have most of th same features. Kia's don't hold their value as well (for no particular reason) so you can often get practically the same vehicle for less.
The VW Tiguan is also a great vehicle and about the same size as the others as well as its Seat & Skoda counterparts.

Re: Buying used Hyundai Santa Fe 2009 model

Thanks Amanda,

Your response helps.

I am looking for 6+ seats SUV. VW Tiguan is great so as Skoda. But, they come with 5 seats. Seat has an Alhambra with great engine V6, however, again this is not an SUV. Kia Sportage again a 5 seat option.

What do you think on Hyundai Santa Fe, any opinion`?

Regards,
Rahul

I know Hyundais are good vehicles. They have been working really hard the past few years to improve their image and to have a high quality vehicle. I would buy one if they weren't so expensive.

BTW: the Kia Sorrento, VW Touran ,Peugeot 308 SW and Chevy Orlando all have 3 rows. That's what I was looking for too.

And the 2009 models were before that. My sister has a Tucson of that age and I had the pleasure to drive it several times for long distances - they are nowhere near Japanese cars in terms of quality and engineering.

Thanks Treverus & Amanda for your feedback.

Can you please take a very short look at below link to offer quick inputs if this makes a decent vehicle for next 3-4 years? (20000 kms approximately per year)-

Re: Buying used Hyundai Santa Fe 2009 model

I dunno why you are stuck with SUV. I used to have Hyundai Tucson (5 seats) and did 60K km with it, can't complain. Used it for one year in Switzerland and didn't find any reason for having SUV here. So I replaced it with 7-seater Opel Zafira and I can say that the latter one performs much better, especially on the highway. With Hyundai it was uncomfortable to drive 140 km/h or more. When my Opel does 160 km/h (I'm not a racer to do more) it's still stable.

Back to the SUVs, I saw a new Toyota Highlander, man, it's 8(!) seater!

Wow. What did that thing cost new?
Nobody can say from the picture alone what defects it might have.
Take it to a "TCS Technical Center":
https://www.tcs.ch/de/auto-mobilitae...sions-test.php

and have it checked out by experts.
Costs 120 CH for TCS members (and 240 for those that aren't).

Re: Buying used Hyundai Santa Fe 2009 model

Guys,

Thanks for your inputs. I checked old hyundai, was in good condition overall but had developed a rust on the engine holder bracket. I decided not to buy it.
