Road Tax - when is it due?

I am planning to register, in Neuchatel, a used car I just purchased. I have gone to the scan-ne.ch website and computed the road tax. Does anyone know if I will need to pay this tax on the day I register the car? Or am I just needing to pay the cost for the two plates (front and back)?

I would like to pay cash if possible, and am trying to figure out what I need to bring with me besides Grey Card and my Titre de Sejour / passport.

Thanks in advance!

Re: Road Tax - when is it due?

They usually send a bill in the post for the plates and tax etc. I've never paid anything on the spot at the SCAN office.

In other Cantons, I have always received the road tax, number plates, fees etc. as normal bills, after maybe 2 weeks, with a pink slip to pay them as soon as you can.

Re: Road Tax - when is it due?

You don't pay anything then and there, they give you a bill with 30 days to pay.
