SBB 1-day travel pass plus

I was at an SBB/ZVV ticket machine yesterday and saw an option to buy a day ticket for multiple people so long as one person in the group had a 1/2 card. I think it was called 1-day plus or something like that.

I just tried to find more information on it on the website, but couldn't find anything. Does someone have details of this?

EDIT: found it, see subsequent posts below

Re: SBB travel card

Unfortunately, even in German there is no information regarding this 2 for one tickets :-( best would be if you pass by the SBB and request the concrete answer/information...

1-day travelpass Plus

I just want to share this good deal from sbb:

"Discover Switzerland: this autumn you can travel the whole day with the 1-day travelpass Plus for two at CHF 89, for three at CHF 109, and for four at just CHF 129. Only one person requires a Half-Fare travelcard for this."

http://www.sbb.ch/en/travelcards-and...pass-plus.html

Enjoy autumn!

Re: SBB travel card

You can also buy in the SBB app. I'm a bit unsure of whether you need to specify passengers or not when buying the ticket.

Re: 1-day travelpass Plus

It's crazy but when I want to browse this page on my iPhone, it's blank. The moment you refresh it in Safari, it shows the content for max 2 seconds only and it turns blank again. The Flash player's required?

Sharing is only possible if you will all travel together. Here's an excerpt from the terms and conditions of this offer:

"The person with the Half-Fare travelcard must be there for the whole trip – if the person with the Half-Fare travelcard alights before the other passengers, the other 1-day travelpasses Plus are no longer valid.

If the third and/or fourth person only join the group later, they require an additional ticket up to the place where they join the other 2 passengers with the 1-day travelpass Plus."

Re: 1-day travelpass Plus

That's nice. I've just renewed my half-tax card and now there are people travelling with me whose tickets are the same price but don't need to have spent Fr.160.-- for a annual card. Not only that but as a lone traveller I don't get the benefit of a travelpass+.
Since being alone I have noticed how difficult it is to get a fair deal, especially in shops, hotels, holidays, - I also understand the business mentality so I don't have a problem about it, but everyone should pay their fair whack on public transport I find.

i think it makes sense. currently for visitors to the UK travelling in a group of 4, the trains make no sense at all due to the high price and a car is much cheaper. this deal helps to address that.

Re: SBB travel card

I was thinking about one of those. Can anyone tell me if you can use the card to get up any of the mountains, or do you have to buy a seperate pass for that ?

We have used this pass to go up Mt Rigi without any extra tickets. Other mountains as far as I know like titlis, pilatus, matterhorn need extra tickets.

I'd expect it to be the same as for a GA: The transport to most towns, even mountain towns, is covered, but the lifts which exist for skiing/tourism are not. So typically you can get close, but have to pay for the last lift.

Did you need to specify who the passengers were?

Nope as long as one person had the half fare card and the total matched the number of people we didn't need to.

Am not sure if that willl be the case if you buy the tickets online as we had bought ours from the counter. Also bear in mind that this was done last year with the same offer so not sure if any changes have been introduced this year.

Yeah. The app asks for passenger info, but it seems that you can buy without inputting them.

Re: SBB travel card

i think the offer expired now, but to be safe, i bought the paper version to take my parents around. a big $ saver for visitors without the 1/2 card.

downside was that when my parents realised it was a flat rate to travel for the day, they wanted to maximise the use of it! and so we travelled a LOT.
