Tunnel near Bregenz

Hello,

I was wondering when driving through Bregenz from Switzerland and also back from Germany if I can use a tunnel which is near Bregenz without an highway vignette for Austria highways?

There is an entry in the center of Bregenz on a highway where you actually (driving direction Germany) enter this tunnel and when you leave it you are just at the Austria/Germany boarder. If no how often the police is checking this tunnel and how much is the fine if they stop me without the vignette when driving only in this tunnel?

he fine is exactly same as anywhere else you drive in Austria on the highway without a vignette.

I guess a lot of people this for few clicks lets save the vignette and my money says i bet the Police know this and have VERY frequent checks, after all, it's easy money.......

Re: Tunnel near Bregenz

You can get an annual vignette, but they also now sell (for a few years) a one day pass for the corridor of the tunnel and the motorway to the south. I think it used to be about 3€

I think that you will find that the cheap option no longer exists since the renovation of the Pfänder tunnel and now you have to pay the normal vignette prices. You can avoid the tunnel by going through Bregenz by the lake route, but the traffic can be very slow especially during the rush hour.

Yes this is exactly the case when we drive from CH (usually in the afternoon's) and traffic is a killer especially if you still need to make 1300 km.

I haven't seen any option to buy just one day pass through the tunnel I guess this is gone now. Only option is 10 days vignette.

Re: Tunnel near Bregenz

They abolished the corridor vignette last year I think. So yep 10 days or drive around the lake.
