traffic from Neuchatel to Geneva airport - advice needed

Hi - I Need some advice. Some friends are visiting in October, and will drive around Switzerland. They Need to take a flight from 17.30 from Geneva on a Wednesday. They'll be staying in Neuchatel the night before.

What is the drive like between Neuchatel and Geneva Airport? Is the traffic heavy? How Long should you allow for such a drive?

Many thanks

Re: traffic from Neuchatel to Geneva airport - advice needed

The traffic between Neuchâtel and Geneva is not usually very bad. The worst bit will be the stretch between Lausanne Crissier and the airport I would imagine.

If their flight is at 17.30 they will be arriving in Geneva before the major commuter evening exodus so it shouldn't really take them more than an hour and a half to get to the airport even allowing for a bit of traffic.

Personally I would aim to leave Neuchâtel at around 2pm to be on the safe side.

Thanks for your reply

(Of course I have googled and looked up on-line too - but I was wanting personal experience from People who know and drive the roads)

It is in fact as you don't need to worry too much about traffic or parking or anything else. Plus if your train gets delayed and you miss your flight, your insurance will pay out.

If you miss your flight becuase of a traffic problem in your own car they will not pay out.

I agree the car would be easier if it was a rental car and needed returning but for GVA, the train goes directly to the airport which is currently a mess due to work being done and so driving/parking is not so easy.

My reply was based on the assumption that the car was a rental car.
The OP states that her friends are just visiting Switzerland and driving around so I assumed (maybe wrongly) that it was a rental car that they would need to return to the airport.
