what was the number on the dial? Was it something to be worried about? If you were more forthcoming, you might get more constructive advice.

Well it was 80 in a 60 but with the speedo over reporting and the 3 tolerance I'll be looking at 74 or there abouts ... so 90 francs of a difference.

I wonder if anyone has had the misfortune to be captured by the speed camera on road from Biel to Twann Tuscherz. I'm curious as to the road clarification. It seemed very like an out of town highway road but on the map it looks as though it is urban.

I got flashed on the first camera going in the direction of Twann Tuscherz. ...60km/h section.
I think it's a 'B ' road.

why are you worried? It appears you may be 250 or so lighter in your wallet but it's not going to change your life.

Re: Road classification

I'm not worried, I'm not even grumpy about it (it was Podgyken who started that) I was merely interested in the road classification and how they work it out.

And it will be another groan or mis-quite no doubt

According to the directions, this is Route 5.

You asked a question and most people tried to help to help you figure out the answer for yourself but it came across that that wasn't good enough for you and the only acceptable response was if someone had been caught at the same camera and they post here, which is unlikely. The tone read into your responses I don't think has endeared you to anybody but I think most folk are trying to help. It doesn't seem to matter who posts or what it's about normally you'll get many smartass or ignorant responses but I don't think this has happened in this thread yet so think yourself lucky.

The problem was you didn't actually ask a question - or to be precise you didn't use a question mark. In the sticky thread there is the below:

The classifications are 30-zone, inner (50/60), ausser* and motorway**.

The national limit of an "ausser" is 80, and motorway 120. Therefore on a road stated as a 60 limit the assumption has to be that you would fall under the "inner" tariff.

Finally "as you know this forum" you'll clearly be aware the 99% of people who post with regards to speeding following the time honoured tradition of "I wasn't going that fast and besides the speed limit should be higher and I was only 1kmh over and I shouldn't have to pay."

I wouldn't agree - if somebody asks me for advice or information, but gives vague statements and won't clarify what they mean, I find that annoying and impolite.

You've done the equivalent of walking into a room of people you don't know and shouting "Can anyone help me with X?", and when someone asks "what do you mean by X?" replying "Why should I answer that, just help me, god you're all so pathetic".

Unusually, EF here is mirroring real life - you got a similar response to what I would expect in the above example.

Re: Road classification

Again I would beg to differ. My query was quite specific. If i had wanted theories and hypotheticals from the forum i would have asked for that. I don't understand why people think it's ok to ignore the original query and give their theory or opinion.

Stop trying to make me the villain here.

Perhaps the lesson here is that you need to learn how to use question marks. Should it have been?

"I got flashed on the road from Biel to Twann Tuscherz which is signed as a 60kmh zone.
Has anyone else been caught speeding there?
When you received the bill did it indicate whether it was classified as an innerort or ausserort zone?
I am wondering as this impacts the (potential) fine."

Re: Road classification

To answer your question: It is a 1st Class Road.
https://map.geo.admin.ch/?topic=ech&...osshair=marker

This is the correct answer. (Un)fortunately totally useless for your purpose as fines to not depend on the class.

I disagree Kenny's remark about the speed limit. Most 60 km/h limited roads are Ausserorts/ex-urban/outside city limits, only a few strechtes have a 60km/h limit Innerorts. As said many times in this thread: this particular road has stretches which are Ausserorts and stretches which are Innerorts. In both cases there are parts with a limit of 60 km/h.

As you were very unspecific about where the flashy-flashy device is, we cannot give you a better answer then to look for yourself (lazy bum) i the stretch with the flashy-flashy is in a Innerorts or Ausserorts part. See previous post how begin/end and of Innerort and Ausserorts look like.

(PS: AFAIK most flashy-flashies on this road are on Innerorts strechtes )
