Renting a van in CH?

Would appreciate any personal experiences and recommendations on renting a van in CH:
How much should we expect to pay for a one day van rental? What are some least expensive companies to use?
Thanks in advance for any advice.

Unirent are excellent - but they no longer exist.

There are 3 ways to rent:
1) Mobility/Ikea/Otto/etc - by the hour for shifting something locally
2) Hertz/Europcar/Avis/Sixt - for a couple of days paying for a good quality product
3) miet.ch - for smaller companies

Price - 150-250 a day would seem about right

Ikea; (for goods)

in details -> CHF29 for the first hour, then CHF25 for each hour

Also possible to rent over a night for CHF100 (nightly rent starts exactly one hour before the store closes and ends after an hour of store's opening hour)

I've not done it, but a couple of friends have used Otto's for vans when moving house - apparently dirt cheap (for CH!)

Hi SplishSplash

Locally ( Renault in Jona ) have a look at http://www.garage-schweizer.ch/lieferwagen.html , usual Swiss, but friendly, can leave your car there and choice of 4 van sizes. Cheaper in the week than weekend.

Good luck.

Re: Renting a van in CH?

PS.

A note to all any any van renters .... be very CAREFUL when you drive, park, turn, stop, load. As all rental companies have a very large excess insurance charges.

I was bitten many years ago with a very small dent on the back of a rental van. And the lovely company took the opportunity to get a full backend clean up and respray at my expense !!!!
