Car from France

Hi all,

I've read the threads on car import to CH, and most relate to UK-CH. My situation is I get to flee France in a few months. My car is only a couple of year old, and as it's French has the great asset of a steering wheel on the left side. As cars are kidney donatingly expensive in France, and from what I've seen quite a bit cheaper in CH my question for you guru's is: Would I have a paperwork nightmare to bring my Laguna (Who laughed!!!) from France to CH, and could anyone tell me if I'm likely to face any spec' issues trying to switch to CH plates. Or do I sell my car here and buy a Ch car.

Re: Car from France

to cut a long story short - its far too much hassle, you have to have it tested etc and you may as well just buy one in Switz as they are cheaper anyway!

Re: Car from France

Mmm.... was kinda hoping it would be fairly straightforward to bring my Laguna over as it's a left hooker and in km's etc. My wife also really loves it, so breaking the news to her it's being sold is going to go down like a lead ballon!!! Should we decide to bring it, could anyone direct me to a concise (and hopefully in English) list of rquirements.
All info' is greatly appreciated, and not to mention time and stress saving.

Re: Car from France

actually as it is LHD and has EU type approval, it should be very easy to import. Ask Renault Switzerland.

Doh...That little gem never entered my head...what a wally. I got too much into reams of paperwork, and unhelpful French type beaurocrats, the ones with a face like bulldog chewing a wasp, but with a shorter fuse. Thanks Lob, I'll email Renault CH right now
