Re: Personalised number plates in CH

I have never heard of a local Swiss wanting a plate because it reads like a word. However, the idea of having a "low number" seems to be the ultimate prize in the "I'm so friggin cool" category.

I was refering SZ 1.

Pierre Sudan owns ZG 1 U... Nobody owns ZG 1 till ZG 100
I know what you were referring to. I was pointing out the ownership of another low number on another premium marque

Not that I would pay extra for it, but I would love to have ZH 196838, or ZH 1968385, my car being a 1968 3.8 S-Type.

If it weren't for the lack of letters 4NI8ER would be another possibility.

In Fribourg, all the single and double digit numbers belong to taxis for some reason.
I noticed that FR 1-7 seem to belong to Prius taxis that always park at the train station.

It's the same in Geneva, as shown in a photo in a recent thread complaining about all the taxis around here being more than twenty years old. The owners hang onto their old plates, and their cars!

Re: Personalised number plates in CH

I think the roller usually parked outside of the three kings in Basel is BS 1 (or is it BS 8?)

Apart from the taxis, having a lower number identifies you as being long-term Swiss, rather than some dirty new-money import.

The taxis at least in Basel all have numbers from 1000 up. It is so the police can keep there eye on them and on drivers using other cars that have no control thingy in them but a taxi sign on top.

Re: Personalised number plates in CH

I didn't get a personalized plate. Instead I got a personalized phone number. My phone number is now the same as my car plate.

I know. I've just admitted to being the biggest geek on EF.....

The plate of course.

Now SZ 1 on a John Deere - that would be the ultimate in Schwyzer conspicuous consumption.

Ah, so it was a lamborghini passenger car? Since its Schwyz I expected a Lambo trattori... http://www.lamborghini-tractors.com/

A Lamborghini tractor... my goodness, that's both of OH's retirement dreams combined in one vehicle.

(Ya know... I'm starting to like the idea... )

Certainly not on a foreign made tractor.

Bucher it would have to be.

I see Bucher on the roads regularly, often garlanded with flowers for an Old Timer Treff. But there is a whole lotta John Deere green in the fields around here. That surprised me, as I had thought those behemoth machines better suited to pancake-flat Hoosierland.

OH has been salivating over that Lamborghini tractor. No use in our tiny garden, of course, but it would sure be fun to bring back home when the time comes. Might as well plow the back 40 in style...
