Second MFK experience

So we all like to share our MoT/MFK experiences right?

My UK car went in a couple of years ago for it's first MFK in Basel, failed on the brake rubber hoses being dirty and a couple of other things. Overall I thought they were pretty relaxed about everything, apart from the hoses of course.

Took it in today after a frantic car wash nearby where I was only able to do a quick pressure wash after not being cleaned since the year before. Didn't touch the engine bay.

The guy was a bit of a Na... ...nice guy and failed it on it having two old vignettes on the windscreen. I don't know if it would have failed if those vignettes had been something else, like an Austrian vignette or something. He also mentioned the sat nav holder is too high. It might be for him but it's not for me!

He also failed it on the steering wheel not being perfectly centralised when driving. It's like a couple of minutes out. I need to replace a steering arm anyhow, but no mention about that.

Also failed on the underneath not being clean enough where there had previously been an oil leak and on headlamp and foglight aim. I dunno what happened to the fog lamps since last time.

Overall not too bad, especially as the retest only costs 12 CHF. There were a couple of things he didn't notice which would have caused me a lot more trouble.

Sfoglight aim
I like how they're called "experts" and then they fail you for the aim of something that is literally screwed fixed without the possibility of adjustment... Happened to a friend a couple of months back too, didn't touch the foglights and passed with no issue the second time after also changing the discs because the "expert" didn't like their color

I just got my invitation for Apr 5th, that's going to be "fun"

Well, could be worse... this guy failed the MFK because the expert could not find the reverse gear on the double clutch gearbox(!)

I've always wondered what is the process for an appeal; if there is one...

And still some people think that the Swiss have no sense of humor.
