Best eurorail pass??

Hello all,

Before I came here, i searched the web and found a pass that allows me to travel within 3 bordering countries for 6 days during 2 months for 450 dollars. I went this wekk to Vevey train station (some one told me that I can inly buy this kind of passes in tha travel agency from the train station) and she said that only in the train stations of Geneva, Zurich, Lucern, Bern I can buy this passes, and the price she gave was 550 francs, so almost 100 more than the one I found in the web.

Does anyone know where else can I buy this, isn;t it possibleto buy it online? Is this a good deal? I don't want to go to Geneve and spend 60 francs to buy this, and I'm not sure if this is a really good deal. I just want to travel to Paris next week and maybe to Italy next month.

i've found that buying train tickets at full price is really expensive, and traveling by car sometimes can be very tiryng. What do you recommend me? i'm just going to be here two months.

Hope anyone out there can help me

THANK YOU!!!

Angie

Re: Best eurorail [sic] pass??

You seem to have internet access, why bother asking a bunch of people who live here, most of whom (like me) have probably not thought about a Eurail pass in years or decades?

Instead, you might consider going to, I don't know, the Eurail website? While there, ask about their Free Beer.

Re: Best eurorail pass??

Hi Angie,

I'm also planning to buy Eurail pass, but my destination will definitely be more than 2 countries (at least 3, so I guess it will be worth purchasing).
If you're only interested in visiting Paris and Italy, then I wouldn't recommend Eurail.
There are lots of (cheaper) options to go to Paris. By train (many trains connection to Paris, just go to train station and ask, no harm just for asking, right?), plane (easyjet), or even cheaper with car pool system --> http://hitchhikers.org/index.cgi?fe=...tedridesonly=1 --> this one isn't really hitchhiking since you need to pay, but a small amount).
Just make sure that you book the (plane/train) ticket really in advance to get a better deal.
For Italy, if you want to go to Milan, Venice, or Florence, you can even buy an online ticket with a special price (SBB website --> click and rail, but you can only buy a week in advance and need a credit card to purchase).
http://mct.sbb.ch/mct/en/reiselust/e...raileurope.htm, then click for the option "Click&rail(Italy)". It's only 74chf one way, even only 48chf when you are lucky.
Or...try the car pool system too.

If none of those options work, you can always buy the Eurail and explore more countries.
Good luck and have fun travelling!!!
